Parenting after 35

Re: Moms of toddlers

  • I'm kind of meh about it. I'm skeeved out by DS using public toilets when we start PTing, so these things appeal to me, but I think these things seem like they might be more trouble than they're worth.

  • We had a little portable potty seat I could use in public and throw in a bag if he had to poop in public when we first started pt'ing. He learned to pee standing up pretty early so I would just lift him up and let him go that way so he never touched anything in a public restroom.

I agree with pp, more trouble than they are worth.

  • I think it's gross and a waste of money. If public potty's bother you that much, you can buy covers or even toddler rings for them at a much lower price and you won't be carrying their poo or pee around until you dump it. I don't see why your child would be anywhere where their are no bathrooms and if they are put a pull-up on them or stay home. Pull-ups are much easier than trying to clean a portable potty in public.

I am not a mom of a toddler yet, but this is what I thought when I saw the article.

  • All I can think is yuck.  Worse case is I have to wash Michael's hands really good if he touches something.  I am not really interested in carrying around poo with me.

  • Ewwww. Fat chance. I'd rather deal with public toilets than carrying around a toilet (c-diff anyone?). Besides, even the girls know how to bush pee.

Gross, expensive, and one more thing for mom to carry, since 3year olds would not. Of course, DS is still not potty trained, so I might be willing to try anything soon.

    hahahahaha

  • What in the world will they think of next?  I would prefer not to walk around with pee and poo.

  • I think this particular travel potty is too bulky to be useful.

A mother in my neighborhood has a travel potty that fits in her diaper bag. It is basically a toilet seat that attaches to plastic bags. She pulled it out for one of her kids to use during a parade. I am not sure how I feel about it.

My friend has one of these and I give her the *side eye* for it - she puts a cloth diaper in the bottom of it to 'collect' the pee.  She uses it in the back of her station wagon, she won't even let her little girl GO in the public bathrooms at all.

That's got "issues later" written all over it IMHO.
