Military Families

So please tell me it gets easier..

I just dropped DH off at the airport for basic/tech school. =(. We get to see him for graduation Dec 2nd and then again for a week for Christmas, but then not again until May 2nd! It has literally been three hours and I am already missing him! I didn't think it was going to be this hard, my dad is in the Army so I'm use to the goodbyes, but it is really sucking!

  • It WILL get better. I find that the first week or so is worse than the rest because you aren't used to the lonliness. Hang in there, lady! ::Hugs!::
  • Loading the player...
  • It definitely gets better! I am using the holidays as markers until DH comes home in Jan. Good luck!!

  • The first week is the WORST. Just stay busy and you'll find your groove. Then the last week or so DRAGS on forever!!!!

     Good luck my friend!

  • Thanks ladies! =]. I am trying to keep DS in his routine and make things as smooth as possible but this totally sucks! Thanks for the encouragement though!

  • It will get easier. You'll learn to get into your own schedule, spend time with friends, and maybe even start a new hobby. Just keep busy and before you know it, he'll be back.

I am in the same boat as you. My H left on Sept 27th for BMT.  If you need someone to talk to just message me. It has been hard this past week but I have hope it will get better!

  • My DH has been in for about 10 years... the best way to deal with them being away (for me) is to make it into something fun--- I know that basic/tech you don't get to communicate as much, but for deployments and TDY we always make sure we have Skype dates each other and I always come up with neat new boxes of goodies to send him (theme boxes)... you have to keep yourself occupied too, make sure you're doing plenty of things to keep you mind off of it--- if you're not working, try taking a class or two, or get a part time job if you can.
