Our guest bedroom is going to become out nursery, but I am wondering if you all are keeping a guest bedroom for visitors?
We have our office that we could change into a guestroom/office. DH is not worried about having room for people to stay, but I think it would be nice if someone wants to come and stay overnight.
WDYT?
Re: Preparing the nursery...
We are making the spare room the babies room and moving the office into the family room.... Our family room is L-shaped, so it will kind of be tucked behind a wall and not really noticable unless you walk around the corner... and then we'll make the (now) office the spare room... Works perfectly! I also think it's important to have room for guests...
GL!
We moved our office desk into the spare bedroom, and had both. It worked great, I love having a just-in-case bed for someone, plus I used it to sleep in with the baby sometimes.
Now we are expecting #2 and are really out of space!
I like the guestroom/office idea. There are soo many nice options out there for guest rooms that it really doesnt even have to look like a guest room...
A friend of mine put one of the Jenn Conv into her office and it was AWESOME!
Check it out.

We live in a small house. The "extra room" we had (read: Not the living room, kitchen, our bedroom or the bathroom) will be the nursery. It was previously DH's closet room and an office.
As for visitors .. we still have a couch and an air mattress.
Oh! I didn't think of a daybed. I'll have to start looking for one!
We just moved into a house with 4 bedrooms! At the time we knew we were having a baby, but our family didn't - they were wondering what all the extra space was going to be used for.
Currently we have a mini-room for our desk, craft-type stuff, and a twin bed (kinda cramped, but it works). Then we have an official guest room, master bed room and the "empty room" that will become the nursery in January.
My parents live out of state so it's always nice to have an extra room for when they come to visit.
I say combine the office and guest room. I don't know if you have one near you, but IKEA has a great corner computer/desk unit that doesn't take up much space and then you could still have room for the bed.
Personally, we have three bedrooms. Since one is my SS bedroom, the third bedroom will be the baby's room/guest room. I have the computer in a corner, a queen sized bed in there now and then we have enough room to put a crib/changing table combo that has dresser drawers under the changing table. We have the closet to store baby's clothes too.
