I was recently advised to remove dairy from my diet to see if LO is having an adverse reaction to it but don't know what to eat. We normally don't eat a lot of meat and cheese is a favorite of mine. Can someone share their dairy free diet with me?

Re: need ideas for a dairy free diet
IMO going dairy is pretty easy (soy is the one that's a PITA!)..
You just substitute everything with either soy milk or other non-dairy milk. There are soy cheeses.
Here is an excellent website that might help regarding taking dairy out..

-make sure you also avoid casein and whey. They are cows milk protein and sometimes not labeled as dairy.
If you live near a big city, you can probably find vegan restaurants where you can get yummy mac&cheese or other "cheesey" meals.
I use almond milk and love coconut milk ice cream. Check out back to nature and amy's brands - they are good about listing allergen content. The amy's no dairy pizza is pretty good.
I had trouble with the no dairy diet at first, but once you spend some time reading labels, it gets better. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods have a lot of options.

is it also soy free?
yes! i like amy's a little but better (it's also soy free) but TJ's is good too.

The TJ's one is cheaper than the Amy's one. But I might have to try it if it's better. I'm getting a little bored with the TJ's pizza since I eat it about once a week.....
im going today to check it out!!!!! can't wait!
Ah. I feel your pain, my LO is sensitive to dairy, but since I've made the switch he is a MUCH happier baby! Plus, I'm a vegetarian so my options are so imited. I eat tons of pasta, pb&J, salads with non-creamy dressings, veggie subs w/ hummus, bisquick pancakes, some cereals, nature valley granola bars (some flavors), almond milk (the dark chocolate kind is great!), almond milk ice cream, veggie burgers, and so on.
Be careful with some things though... I got vegan cheese figuring I'd be safe but I noticed my LO had green, mucous-y stools after I ate it (that and fussiness is what clued us in to his sensitivity in the first place) and looked at the cheese's ingredient and it turned out to have casein (a milk protein) in it. It's so exhausting eating this way, but I guess well worth it.
