I think I was someone target to get my wallet- or possibly my baby, today at babies r us.
I pulled into the parking lot and saw a green SUV parked on the side. Woman driving and a man in the passenger seat taking pics. I thought weird but not note worthy. I went shopping and saw they were staring at me and other moms shopping outside.
My daughter was in the shopping cart holding my purse.
Went in and the woman pops up asking for help. She needs to find an outfit for a baby due in July and they know it is a baby girl. I do the math and that seems strange. I do not think babies are conceived yet for July and they would not know the gender... She keeps trying to point me to opposite ends of the store to look at clothes if I like them.
I turn around to look at something, pull it off the rack and turn back around. The man is standing at the end of my shopping cart. His camera is still around his neck. At that point I am really put off. He just seemed to jump out of no where. We chat a little more and I walk away. She keeps trying to distract me as he gets closer to my cart.
I start walking through the toy section and think, July baby, they know the gender.. Strange. They keep walking around and I decide this is too odd.
I told an employee who talks to a manager. I told her and said something is strange because no way is someone due in July and know the gender and having a shower in Nov this year. I saw the manager kick them out and they left.
I called my husband and talked as I drove away. I was making sure they were not following me. I am a little freaked out. They were after my wallet or possibly my baby. I locked all my doors, windows and have my dog out in case they found me. I know they took a pic of me in my car, and a pic of me holding DD shopping outside. I never said my DD's name, they would not have that. I am so FREAKED out...
Re: I was someone's "target" today at babies r us (kinda long)
You are so right! My SIL is due in Feb and is only 21 weeks along, so there is NO way someone due in July could know gender, I think they would just be getting a bfp
That is so scary! Glad that you were so aware of things. I am sure they were counting on you to be distracted enough with the baby and shopping to not be paying enough attention to the details. I would definitely notify the police.
My friend is due in the middle of April, and she won't find out gender until November, so a July due date would just be getting a BFP.
Thanks everyone. I am very freaked out and definitely will not be letting my kids out of my sight for a long time right now.
DD is asleep right now. But when DH comes home I think I will go to the PD and tell them. This couple was very sketchy.
DH said they were probably just after my wallet, which is probably right. But with the current headlines of a 10 month old taken from her house, I am anxious DD was the target not my wallet!
Please everyone pay attention when shopping. If I had walked away from my cart to look at clothes or turned around for too long my wallet or possibly my baby could have been taken!
Yikes! So glad you and your LO are safe. Is it possible that the BRU has cameras that could have got the license plate number of the vehicle? Maybe even a nearby business? I would call and ask that BRU before reporting to police so that they can save the video if its available and so they do not destroy/erase/record over.
So scary!
Wow good thinking on your feet! My cousin is due at the end of February and just found out last week what she's having so you are 100% correct. And I'm going to jump on the call the cops bandwagon. If something similar happens at least they will have a report on record.
That is incredibly freaky! They also must also be stupid for saying they were due in July... I'm due in May and only found out I was pregnant like 2 weeks ago...
I agree with pp that you should report them to the police.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

That's insane. And yeah, no way someone could know if they were due in July. I'm just over 6 weeks and due at the end of May/beginning of June.
I'd probably call the police to report as well.
