Are you all washing the car seat cover before you put baby in it? I know we are supposed to wash everything, but I also think everything always looks nicer before it is washed. Just wondering what everyone else is doing.
I did not wash the car seat cover when it was brand new for DD... I'm going to wash it this time though since we are reusing it and I'm sure it needs to be washed!

I'm not planning to wash it. I had a "Car Seat Safety" expert come to my house for training and installation. She mentioned that you should never use anything but plain water on the car seat covers, because they're treated with flame retardant.

I did. You never know what kind of residue is on it from the manufacturing/packing process. I would say though that if there is one thing you can get away with not washing, it would probably be this.
The other good thing about washing it now is that you will learn how to disassemble it and put it back together which is rarely a simple task and eventually, you WILL have to wash it. It's nice at that point to know what you are doing
If you do wash it, DO NOT put it in the dryer. Many of them will shrink and then not fit anymore.

Yeah wait till the kid poopsplosions or vomits all over the car seat and see if plain water does anything for that!
I washed mine before storing it (it needed washing bad) so I won't wash it again when I get it out.

She mentioned that too... saying that we'd likely end up washing it, but to avoid it as much as possible.
