This is why I'm done with parties (long) re:40th birthday

As I said in the post below, we just can't afford to do a party for DH this year like he wanted for his 40th birthday. So stealing AugustaBride's idea, I sent facebook message (the only way I knew to get in touch with most of the people), asking friends and family (including ILS!) to send me stories, memories or pictures about DH and I was going to compile them in someway and surprise DH with it. Well, one of his cousins came back and asked if we were still doing the party (because APPARENTLY the ILS told EVERYONE on the planet about it without talking to me). I told his cousin no, we weren't doing a party.

 ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!

Everyone started calling the inlaws asking why the party was cancelled...blah blah blah. I didn't even know people KNEW about a party. I thought it was just something that the I had talked briefly here and there with the inlaws about.

Anyway, the ILs called up DH asking him why we weren't having a party for him and told him that I posted on FB that the party was cancelled. So, DH called me up mad at me for "posting on fb that the party was cancelled." Which I didn't, so I had to tell him what happened...so what turned into me trying to surprise him with a heartfelt, lovely gift turned it to mass chaotic drama and a ruined surprise...... Its ridiculous.

And after all that my ILs told me they were planning on paying for the whole thing in the first place and had the place booked and everything...well gee...thanks for keeping me in the loop since I'm the one who had the "idea" of doing the party in the first place. Good grief.

The only other time I've been super excited about a gift for DH was when he really wanted an Ipod for Christmas (our First Married Christmas!), but I couldn't afford it. But I won a prize at work and could pick anything from a catalog and I picked an ipod nano so I could give it to DH for Christmas. Well, a week before Christmas, the ILS told DH what I got him just to let him know that it wasn't the ipod touch that he wanted, and they wanted to make sure he got what he wanted.

So, anyway...this is after I get some kind of drama every year surrounding Abigail's birthday (even this year, when I didn't do a party to avoid the drama!!).

Thanks for letting me ramble and get my frustrations out...I feel better! :op
