  • My DH and I are going to have one last date night at a steak place we like this weekend, before LO comes. He asked to see if I could get reservations for tonight but I know I'm going to be too tired to go after work. So I'm going to pretend they were booked and schedule it for tomorrow.

I don't know why I'm lying about it instead of just telling him I'm tired. This is unlike me.

The word "congrats" drives me up the wall.

It only drives me crazy when people spell it "congrads" -argh!  Same goes for "congradulations"; unless you're doing it as a pun for somebody who is graduating, this is just annoying!

Lily can somehow already roll from her back onto her side and has done it a couple times in her crib.  She hates being on her back and at night just flat out refuses to sleep that way.  Despite knowing that "back is best" etc., I find I'm leaving her on her side if she rolls.  I feel guilty about not having her in the best possible position for SIDS risk, but I can't stand the thought of disturbing her when she's so peaceful!

  • Mine is silly, but I feel really guilty. We joined netflix a while back because we heard about this show called "Dexter" we got hooked. Seasons 1&2 were available to stream but we had to do Seasons 3,4, &5 via disks, no big deal. But netflix decided to raise their prices so after we finished season 5 we cancelled netflix and signed up for Showtime on October 2 at 8:00 (1 hour before Season 6 started). As soon as season 6 is over, we plan to cancel Showtime. I kind of feel like I'm stealing, even though we're paying for it.

OMG, we did the exact same thing for Dexter, minus the signing up for Showtime. We already carry HBO so we decided to wait until Season 6 comes out on DVD.

  • DH told me they are throwing him a shower at work this weekend and I was so irritated. If it's anything like when we had DD, I will have to write a million thank you notes to women I have never met for a bunch of random crap that gets immediately donated. I know it's so sweet of them to do this for him and I'm grateful he works at a company with people that care about each other, I'm just lazy and crabby.

Wish I could be more help, but I didn't have a lot of symptoms.  I'll share what I remember, though.  I know that the night before something just felt *different* when I'd wake during the night, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was.  I did definitely have some PMS-style cramps several nights leading up to labour, but that was random and started a couple weeks before.  And then on the day I went into labour there was a lot more pressure down low, I was more crampy than I had been and I was more uncomfortable sitting (which I attributed to working all day when I wasn't used to it and sitting in uncomfortable plastic chairs at the Rosh Hashanah service we attended).  But unfortunately there weren't any clear signs I can warn you about.

Why are you having one then?

Big baby. She was measuring 9 lbs 13 oz ( +/- 1 lb) as of Monday, and is gaining about an ounce a day on average (so we're estimating 10 & 1 now). Her lung amnio results were inconclusive, so they're being sent for additional testing. If they come back good, we will try to induce tomorrow (or Monday at the latest, pending another growth scan). If they come back bad, we need to give her more time to bake, and therefore would require a CS after 39 weeks (by then she could easily be 10 & 6, +/- 1 lb). I'm doing everything I possibly can to avoid a CS, but I won't risk her health by inducing too early or trying to deliver her vaginally when she may wind up with shoulder dystocia or broken collar bones, or wind up with an emergency CS anyway.

Our cable package allows 3 premium movie channels, and we have HBO, Cinemax and Starz.  However, when Dexter's season starts we always call and have them "cancel" Cinemax and add Showtime.  Then after the season is concluded, we have them switch it back.  Cinemax has way better movies, but we do love to watch Dexter, so this works out really well for us and it doesn't cost us anything extra!

Hey I'm right there with you. I may have to be induced if it turns out my first GD test was a false negative (also a large baby). Honestly it would be kind of reassuring to know that it would be my doc delivering the baby, and to try to go into labor while he's still a size that I could deliver vaginally.

Totally me too. Technically, it would be better for me financially if she were a week late, but I am done with my work, I can't start any new projects, and getting dressed in something mildly presentable every day is getting harder and harder. Physically, I am pretty comfortable too, and still sleeping well (@ 38 wks, 5 days).

couldn't agree more! I have had a pretty comfortable pregnancy so far, but I know that just typing this will make me gain 10 lbs in a week, have sciatic pain and need to break out preparation h

HA!  I did feel slightly guilty every morning this week when DH had to dig through the pile to find clean socks to wear to work.  I stay at home so it's not like I didn't have time to fold the freaking laundry all week!  Oh and that's not counting the giant pile of hand me down baby clothes that I have yet to organize and clear a drawer to put them away.  My living room is one giant pile of laundry!

  • Now that I'm overdue, I'm starting to get really annoyed at all of the birth stories, especially the ones who went before their due date. I still read them, but I might stop soon, because it just makes me more frustrated that my little girl isn't here yet, and then the "woe is me" feelings really set in. I went 13 days overdue with my first, so I tried telling myself this time that I'd go super late again, but it's still hard! Especially with Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, so 25 family members are in town, and I'm really anxious to NOT be in labour when our absense would be particularly noted, especially when we live on my in-law's property, they're hosting the family dinner, and I'm planning a homebirth.

This exactly. Plus a few dishes sitting in the dishwasher.. I'm too lazy to bend over to take them out :-/ ...

Also.. I don't want DH getting drunk/buzzed with his friends in case I go into labor. I don't want a drunk labor coach telling me to push.. I have this fear that the second he gets drunk, my water will break. Completely irrational, I know.. but I can't get over it. DH will have to wait :-p

This, only the exact opposite scenario lol. My own mom keeps calling me up and telling me that I am going to have her late.. that there's "no way" I'll go before my EDD... well now I'm almost HOPING I go into labor before my EDD just to spite her! Argh what a crazy reason...

  • Now that I am overdue, I am really, really over my maternity clothes.  I just spent my whole trip to Target pulling up my maternity stretchy pants/tights (the kind you wear under a dress) every other step I took. The other night I wore underwear over the tights (but under a dress) just to keep them up - I guess I should have done that again today!

Also - more of a rant - why do people feel the need to fly out of the end of the aisle at the store? I almost got into about 3 crashes today with people who were going really fast and didn't look before entering the "main aisle." It makes me wonder what great drivers they must be if they can't even properly maneuver a shopping cart. Confused

My Mackenzie does the same thing. Both at the hospital and the home care nurse when she came for her visit said that was ok. As long as I'm putting her down on her back I can leave her on her side if she rolls to it. I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure she doesn't have any loose blankets or anything by her face.

Confused

This kills me...and I usually have DD in the cart!  Walk like you drive people!
