Intro and Clomid question.

Hello Ladies,

Long time lurker here! Here is my intro: DH and I have been ttc for over a year and a half. I tried many OPK's , and saw many happy faces, which proved that I do ovulate. My cycles are very regular, and are usually 29-30 days long, like clockwork. I finally got an appointment with an RE two weeks ago. The first thing he did (after our consult) was an U/S, and said everything looked normal, and he could see I released an egg two days prior. He ordered me to go back for another U/S on CD2 to check my follies. On my follie U/S the NP only found 5 on one side, and 4 on the other. She said I might have early egg degeneration or poor egg quality. I also had blood work done, and my FSH level was 6.3 (I'm not sure if this is a good thing?) The NP ordered me to take 100mg of clomid on CD5. I also have to do more blood work on CD10, and another U/S on 10/14. I am extremely nervous about taking clomid, but the pharmacist assured me that my side effects would not be severe, because I am only taking it for 5 days. Are there any ladies that had success with just the aid of clomid, who ovulate regularly? (By success, I mean, high follie count)

    Hi and welcome! I'm in a somewhat similar place that you're in...just a few months ahead of you! DH and I have been TTC for almost 2 years, I ovulate regularly but haven't had any lucky getting pregnant. Saw an RE and did lots of u/s and blood work, which ultimately showed poor egg quality. So I've been on 100 mg of Clomid for the past 4 months. My mature follicle counts have gone up compared to before Clomid. Still no luck getting pregnant, but I'm still hopeful! Side effects have really not been bad at all for me. No emotional side effects and no physical side effects, other than one month I had some weird spotting for 9 days. Everyone responds differently to Clomid, so you'll just have to kind of wait and see! Good luck as you move forward!

    I had many follicles on my first round of Clomid (50mg CDs 5-9), so many that in subsequent cycles my dose was cut in half to 25mg. I hope you have good experience with it. Also, you didn't mention whether your husband has had a sperm analysis. If you guys haven't done so already, I urge you to do it asap because if male factor is your issue, Clomid definitely won't help things. Good luck!

    Clomid isn't bad - the higher the dosage, obviously the more side effects.  I'm up to 150mg and the hot flashes are AWFUL - but I didn't hardly have any side effects with the lower doses.  Also, it is my understanding that Clomid is supposed to mimic a true cycle, so producing more follies that will then release an egg isn't the goal of Clomid, so even if you have one, Clomid has done it's job!  Good luck with everything.

    . U/S 8/10 showed one baby with a strong heartbeat!

    I take it CD 3-7 each cycle!
