I thought (although I haven't tried it and don't plan to soon) that peanut oil is usually considered safe for those with peanut allergies because of how it's broken down? (similar to soy bean oil being safe for soy allergies).

i have heard that before but I'm assuming it depends on the severity of the allergy. I would not dare test that on my "level 6 peanut allergic" son.
He's level 2 to soy and he can tolerate soybean oil now but still shows signs of reactions from time to time so we just limit it and offer it every couple of days.
there's no way we're trying it any time soon- just curious. I'm glad your kiddo can at least tolerate some soybean oil! That has to be super helpful in opening up some new food options.

I very well could have misunderstood our allergist, we had a TON of info thrown at us the day DD was diagnosed with her peanut allergy.. but I thought the peanut oil thing depended on how the oil was processed. Refined peanut oil breaks down the proteins making it generally safe for PA folks, while cold-pressed peanut oils have proteins in tact and should be avoided by PA folks. I never know how to tell the difference and certainly don't trust restaurant employees to know, so we just avoid all peanut oils.
