I got the Joovy Double and I like it!

BH posted a while back asking about the Joovy double stroller and a few people on here recommended it. I just got one off Craigslist yesterday and I am so happy to have it so I just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation.

We have the City Mini Double which I like for taking long walks or for going to farms or so but it is *not* made for running errands. First of all, it's really heavy to get in and out of the car. Secondly, it won't fit through any store that has a single door. I used the CMD 2 weekends ago to run errands and I ended up pulling a muscle in my back and I couldn't stand up straight for 3 days. I'm still recovering so I will not be lifting that stroller again.

Last night I used the Joovy at Whole Foods and it was really easy to manuever even in the tight aisles. So, I'm happy with my purchase.

On a side note, I went to the house of the person selling the stroller on Craigslist and as I was driving into the neighborhood, I thought to myself, "I bought a MacClaren Volo from someone in this neighborhood about 6 months ago." Well, wouldn't ya know that it was the same woman that I was getting the Joovy from.

So, hopefully this completes our stroller stash which now includes:

1 Snap-n-go

2 MacClaren Volos (one for each car)

1 City Mini Double

1 Baby Jogger City Elite Single

1 MacClaren Triumph (at the grandparent's house)

and now 1 Joovy!

  • Glad to hear you found one that works!

Do you mind telling me what kind of Joovy double stroller it is? We'll soon be in the market for a double also, so want to check out my options. I searched google, but it looks like Joovy makes a few different styles of the double stroller (side-by-side, stand on tandem, etc.).

    Thanks!

  • Wow! You should be our official stroller reviewer. That's quite a stable you got there!

Yes, I feel like I'm a stroller slacker now. I only have 2, a jogging stroller and an umbrella stroller.

I got the Caboose Stand On Tandem Double. You can usually find them on Craigslist for $60-$80. I think this would be a really good option for you because your DD#1 may want to walk sometimes but this stroller gives them the stand-on or sit down option if they get tired.

If you want to read reviews, there are a lot of good ones on Amazon. There are other brands that have a similar style stroller but a lot of the reviewers said that the Joovy has the smallest "footprint" (in otherwords it's not as long). I found it very easy to steer even with both kids. People complain that the storage is not easily accessible which I agree with.

I'm planning to get these to put on the handle for my drink, wallet and cell phone so that those items will be easily accessible. I already have one on my jogger stroller and DH and I really like it.

Haha, yes, I know I've gone a little nuts. It was really with #2 that the stash started getting bigger. However, I don't want to sell any of the single strollers in case I need them down the road for when the oldest doesn't need one and the youngest does. Fortunately, I got most of them off Craigslist and I'll be able to resell them for almost the same amount to get my money back.

I will take stroller questions though so if you have any, let me know. :-)

  • Kendra, are you a stroller hoarder?! :-) lol

I'm so glad to hear that you like the Joovy...and it's funny that you got it from the same person who you've bought from before!

Did you give her your phone number in case she gets any new inventory? :-)

We only have the joovy double and a dinky little cheap umbrella stroller.  I always wanted a Maclaren single but we just don't use the strollers all that much to justify the cost.  I did have a graco travel system one but I gave to my sister when I gave her the carseat that fit into it.

  • I almost got a Joovy off Craigslist, but I came across a rare listing for a One Step Ahead sit-n-stand that I wanted and snatched it up.

I bought a double jogger off Craigslist last year and thought perhaps I'd be able to use it for daily use, but just lifting it into my car at the seller's house convinced me it would be for running only.  We haven't used the sit-n-stand much yet because DD doesn't need it, but it should be a lifesaver.  I think the Joovy is a bit more compact than mine, which is a plus.  I have that same Sunshine accessory and use it all the time on my Capri.

So you don't feel bad, we currently own six strollers: Chicco Cortina, Chicco Capri, single jogging stroller, double jogging stroller, snap-n-go (bought for DS because I wasn't dealing with the hassle of the Cortina again), and the sit-n-stand.  I assume we're done.  Especially since I just bought our fourth baby carrier off Craigslist, too (shh, don't tell DH...).

Thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only one. LOL. We are definitely prepared if people have questions since we seem to have different "inventories" and can comment on the pros and cons of a variety of brands.

Yes, I found out about that Sunshine accessory this summer and I love it. It's definitely a gift I'll get for new moms in the future.

Actually, I did ask what she has left. She said she's gotten rid of all of her strollers except the single jogger. I told her we already have one so I won't be coming back for that. LOL.

  • I love my Joovy Caboose. It's so lightweight and folds up so small. I have a small stroller collection too, we have 5 so not quite as impressive as yours ;) I have a Mommy Hook https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3336550 to help with the storage issue.
