  My DD has the same cough right now. She kept coughing for an hour last night, and when I went in there to give her some water (didn't know what else to do) she was sleeping. I guess she was basically sleeping between her coughing fit. Kept me up though!

  Yes, I just feel so bad because she's obviously tired and needs the rest since she's sick, but her cough is keeping her up. I hope we get some good advice, and that your LO gets better very soon!

  I would probably give some motrin as I am assuming DC has ache/pain. I know when I have a bad cough I do

  I normally put Vick's on DD's chest and the bottoms of her feet along with the humidifier.  I also put a pillow underneath her crib mattress so she's not laying flat.  GL!

  My son was just sick as well! One night he even woke up from coughing, and it was more of a croupy type cough. We use the warm air humidifier. I know that a lot of places are saying cool now but when I called the kids line at the hospital they actually said it was a good idea to try the warm air one, just be sure to clean it out in the morning to avoid any mold growing and that the baby couldn't get to it, which for me wasn't an issue since he is still in his crib and doesn't climb out (knock on wood). Because of the runny nose the hospital also had told me to use children's benedryl.

   I wound up taking him to the doctor because I was concerned and it wound up being bronchitis which the doctor said has been going around so we got the presciption for amox. and a nebulizer which has worked wonders.

   Aside from that, I also try giving nice steamy baths at night to loosen him up before bed. Hope some of this helps!

  My DD has a terrible non-stop cough right now and I was surprised, but Tylenol worked wonders. It helped her fall and stay asleep, but while she was awake it almost completely stopped her coughing. The pharmacist recommended it to us.
