Do you like your swaddle strap? I am considering getting it instead of the Miracle Blanket, because DS will be able to use it longer. He will soon be too tall for the MB and I like that I can still use all the fleece sleep sacks that I already have with it.
What do you think?
Re: Please review the Swaddle Strap
I haven't heard of the swaddle strap but our Pedi told us to stop swaddling after 1 month. When we went for our 2 month check up and we didn't stop, he told us we NEEDED to stop. We went cold turkey that night and it worked out really well...so my point is you can try not swaddling, it might be a bad first few nights but they get used to not being confined.
That is ridiculous. Who insists that babies are unswaddled that early? Most babies sleep better and need swaddling for a lot longer than that. We swaddled until 6 months and many countries swaddle for the first year. It causes no problems as long as their hips are free.
I can't figure out why in the world a pedi would say that. Swaddling is definitely ok for far longer than that.
Wow - I would consider that pedi very uniformed if they insisted you stop at 1 month. I would consider a new pedi, actually, since swaddling is comforting for some children for many months. I would seriously wonder what would possess a pedi to say that.
I guess I'm so annoyed with a pedi saying that, because my child was one who needed swaddling until she was probably 5 or so months old. We transitioned to no swaddle w/ the Baby Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit. At first I thought it was ridiculous, but DD loved it, and she was out of that in about a month.
Before that we used the miracle blanket (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!) - but never heard of the swaddle strap.
ETA: I don't know how big your child is, but mine did fine in the MB until she was almost 5 months old - and she's a 95th percentile kid.
I had not heard of this product before, but like the idea that I could swaddle LO and still strap him in his swing.
I can't tell from the photos though - does it have anything to keep it from riding up over the LO's face? (e.g., like the straps on the swaddle sleepsack)
