Random Baby Related questions (well, pregnancy related anyway), but I am not

First off, no I am not pregnant, unfortunately. I'm just thinking and looking for input to hypotheticals.

1. Has anyone delivered at Auburn Regional Medical Center?  What was your experience?

2.  Does Swedish (First HIl) still have post-partum in a different room, or are you able to stay in the same room for the whole time?  When I had Tman, they ushered us down a floor after he was born, but the website says, "There's even a place for your partner to sleep, so you can spend your first night together as a family." talking about the birthing suites.  It's been more than 6 years since I've had Tman, so that could be new(ish).

3. A WWYD.  My OB (@ Swedish) when I was pregnant was Tillman was (is) the best.  But, for my recent annual exam, I went to an OB/GYN down here closer to me - just because it's closer.  His nurse is SO nice and he's great, and so far I have been really pleased with them.  He's started me on Clomid and I am hoping and praying this is what does the trick for me to get pregnant.  If I do get pregnant, I feel like I'm faced with a dilemma.  I feel really comfortable delivering at Swedish.  Auburn Regional, not so much.  I haven't really heard BAD things, but not really anything positive.  But, that's where my new OB/GYN delivers.  Would it be rude of me to receive the care that I'm receiving at this office and if I get pregnant to go back to my OB @ Swedish?  I don't mind the drive for appointments and stuff.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

  • Can't answer most of these... But for #2... As of the tour DH and I took last December, the post-partum rooms are separate from the L&D rooms. Both the L&D and the post-partum rooms had places for your partner to sleep, though.

  • I did not deliver at either, and of course know Swedish is known for how good they are. This is what I would probably do. Stay with the OB in Auburn until I got pregnant. Once pregnant, I'd see how the first couple appts go... If I was labeled high risk for anything, I'd probably decide to switch to Swedish. If everything was looking good and no problems, I'd probably stay with the place close to home. Was your first pregnant high risk? I know pregnancies are different, but if it was, I might consider going to Swedish for that reason too! However, if your OB at Swedish is "the best" will you be able to transfer in the middle of your pregnancy or will he/she already have too many patients? Just a problem a friend ran into at Swedish.

  • I don't have any experience at either hospital but I would do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. It sounds like from the message you'd be more relaxed going with your previous OB. I'd think a good doctor would want you to be comfortable and would understand your decision (it makes perfect sense to me and it sounds like you'd happily go back to your current OB/GYN after delivery). I know the world doesn't always work like I think it should, but I think you're being completely reasonable and should follow your gut.

On a more selfish note, I'd love to know which OB at Swedish you loved. My regular doctor only provides OB care up to 36 weeks, then would transfer me to a doc at Swedish. I think I want to transfer sooner to meet the new doc and get comfortable with them before that point.

  • I saw Dr. Robert Levine at NW Women's Healthcare.  He was great.

E: I really really hope this is it for you, too!!  I did deliver at Swedish 4 years ago and there was a seperate post partum room.  It was small and cramped, but i recenty visited a friend at Overlake and it was the same way .
