One sided dimpling, pockets of fluid - post c-section

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issues I am after having their c-section....

A few weeks ago I noticed that I had a rather large lump on the right side of my stomach a few inches above my c-section scar.   My doctor ordered an ultrasound and it was found that I had two pockets of fluid that appeared to be connected/coming from my internal sutures.  My doctor felt that it was a minor issue and the fluid would quickly dissipate.  Well 4 weeks later the lump has gotten larger and now I've found another one on the left side of my stomach.  It is rather painful.  I also have a very noticeable "dimple" just above my scar.  It looks as if something on the inside (the fluid pocket) is actually pulling my skin/tissue inward.

I have another ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow.  I'm a bit frustrated because my doctor doesn't seem to be taking it seriously.  Yesterday, on the phone, the nurse stated "the doctor doesn't think this is related to the c-section being that it's been 3 months" (I had my surgery 13 weeks ago).  Of course it's related to the c-section!  It's not a coincidence that I have fluid pockets surrounding my uterus!

Anyways (sorry for the mini vent) - has anyone else experienced these pockets of fluid (hematoma) or obvious dimpling of the skin.  If so, how was it treated?

Thanks for reading....

Re: One sided dimpling, pockets of fluid - post c-section

  • I developed a hematoma above my incision a few hours after surgery. They put a pressure bandage on it for about 36 hours and kept hot packs on them. Now that I'm home, I keep a heating pad on them. I went to get my incision checked yesterday (one week out) and my dr said that they were softening and looked good. Other than the heating pad, they didn't give me any other instructions.
