C-sections

Period/Bleeding After C-Section....

I had my son May 27th. I bled for a good 4-6 weeks after having my c-section. It finally stop. Then about a week later, I had a light period. I had one in August, but not one in September. Is this normal!? This is my first child, so I'm completely new to all this! Any help and/or advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Period/Bleeding After C-Section....

  • Are you breastfeeding?

c/s or not I think it's pretty normal to have wacky periods after giving birth.

  • I was only able to breast feed for the first 2 weeks. My son is 4 months now, and its been bottle.

  • Sounds normal.  I have a friend who couldn't breastfeed and got her period one week after she stopped bleeding.
  • Sounds normal to me-I had a C-section and bled for about 4-5 weeks, then had a light period about 2 weeks after that.

I breastfed my daughter for a month-so that may have had something to do with getting a period so soon after the lochia stopped.

It took a few months for my periods to get somewhat regular again-and the first few I had during that time were AWFUL.  Bloodbath-y and crampy as hell.

  • You cycle can be wonky after giving birth. After my first, it went back to normal right away. This time I just got my first pp AF at 7 months.

  • Ok. So I shouldn't be worried that I didn't have a period in September!? Because I am freaking out. My husband & I had sex, but used protection. Don't get me wrong. I want more kids. Just not right now! So it's completely normal for my body to be skipping like this!? I'm sorry, I'm a paranoid momma lol.

  • If you are worried the only thing you can do is POAS and look at the results, or wait for AF Smile
But yes, it's normal for periods to be wonky after birth.
