This is something I want to look into before getting pregnant. I would love to do this.
The only concern I have is that I did have a small placental abruption just before I went into labor with DS.
I don't know if this is something that would keep the midwife as taking me on as a patient?
Re: Anyone have a VBAC at home with a CNM?
I agree- this is quite rare (and great)! In my state, CNM's can be prosecuted for attending home births. I believe lay midwives can (and practical midwives?) But there are a lot of Amish in this state and I am often seeing the state going after their midwives when something goes wrong. Really sad. In those cases, they are attacking their entire way of life. But I digress. . .
I just lucked out! There is an ob/gyn here who switched to doing home births after he became fed up with the way local hospitals handled healthy births. The hospital where he had privileges banned VBAC so he started doing them at home for his clients.
i had an hbac with a CPM, not a CNM.
i'm not sure about the qualification you mentioned. you should ask the providers directly.
