I met a friend of a friend the other day and her name was Nealy. DH thought it was cool and liked it, I half agreed, not sure what I think. What do you all think. I dont know how it would actually be spelt. Nealy, Niely, Nealie, etc....
Im not a fan of super cutesy girly names or old lady names which seems to be the fad right now! sorry! just wondering if there is any reason this name would be a bad idea, like it being the medical jargon for private parts as my last suggestion was lol
It's spelled Neely (or Neeley), and it's my last name.

I went to college with a girl named Neilye... actually I just saw her last weekend at an alumni event and haven't seen her in at least 7 years so it is so odd to see this post. That is how she spelled it. It is NMS.
Everything that is common sense in me says "NO" to the name
but
I have to admit, I think it would work and that the NO is just a kneejerk reaction that would wear away in a short time.
It may be that I knew a girl in high-school with that as a last name..she was sporty and those types generally were called by their last names, so it's not a huge hurdle for me to think past.
This name was brought up a while back, and just as then, I'm shocked now that apparently no one has read/watched Valley of the Dolls.
I think it's alright. It doesn't thrill me or anything. But it does have a real, literary connection (that's worth looking into before deciding on the name).

Neely... I actually love it. I think it was a character in like Valley of the Dolls? I saw it on TV years ago and really liked the name! Good luck choosing!!!
I watched a little girl with that name, spelled Neely, and I didn't really like the name on her. It didn't seem to be a good fit. She was also a little whiner, so I just don't have a good association with it at all.
I really like Neela better. What about using Neela with Neely/Nealy as a NN?
And FWIW,it isn't the name of the character on Futurama as PP said (that is Leela),so it would not be associated with that.

I had a great aunt Nealy. She was an angry person, so it makes me think of an angry old woman. I think her name was actually Cornelia though. I don't think Nealy is a good stand-alone name for anyone.
Re: Opinions please.....Nealy for a girl
No.
NMS. I tend to like extremely feminine names for girls, so I'm not really a fan. Sorry.
What is an LN?

TIA
I don't like it, reminds me of the word "mealy" which is what my gram used to call mushy/gross/overripe/rotten fruit.
Besides my negative association, it just doesn't seem like a FN to me...more like a LN or NN.

I knew a Neely in HS and the name is just bad. Think of all the kneel/BJ jokes she encountered
