What belly lotion/cream/balm are you using?

I know nothing can prevent stretch marks, but I'm looking for something to soothe my skin and maybe help a little with not getting bad stretch marks?  Ok, maybe wishful thinking, but what are you ladies using??  I think I'm going to try Burt's Bees Mama Bees oil and belly butter products.

Re: What belly lotion/cream/balm are you using?

  • I have the burts bees mama for the belly. My belly just started itching last night put some of that on and bam instant relief! I dont think it does anything for stretch marks. Avon has a stretch mark product I used that one before it seemed to help make the lines less noticable and the price wasnt bad.

  • I'm using Burts Bees as well, but the Shea butter and vitamin E one. I really like it.

  • I've heard great things about the Burt's Bees line, but I am using Palmer cocoa butter cream. I'm not crazy about it because it's REALLY thick, I just use at night. I may try something new next time around.

  • I have been using Dr. Palmers lotion for stretch marks.  So far so good but then again my belly has ot really grown that much.  So when it does decide to pop we will see how good the lotion works lol!

  • I have been using the Mama Mio tummy rub.  By "using"  I mean I started using it on Monday.  I really like it.  It smells like lemongrass.  I can't use any of the oils because I don't like the feel of oil on my skin.  But this stuff sinks in in a few minutes and I don't feel greasy or oily.

  • I use Palmer's too, but I hate the chocolate smell.  When this runs out I'm going for something equally thick but better smelling (or unscented).

  • I'm using the 'Lay it on Thick' stuff from Bath & Body works, its in like their 'spa' line. Its super potent and a little bit greasy but i feel like it moisturizes better than thinner lotions. not sure yet though since this is my first time around! lol. but it doesnt have a really strong smell either and ive been having dry crackly nipples too (TMI i know!) and since its so lightly scented i put it on them too and it fixes that super well!

FYI - This stuff is great for the itchy belly.  It's light, non-greasy and doesn't really have any scent.  Doesn't do anything for stretch marks (obviously) but it's great for fighting the itchies.

  • Those of you using Burt's Bees Mama Bee - are you using the balm, belly butter or oil?

  • Right now I just use Bath & Body Works scented body butters.  I really needed to use up some of my lotions so once they are gone, I will be getting Bio Oil.  My friends swear by it when you start to get bigger and your skin is more taught.  I didn't like the smell of the palmers coco butter lotion.

  • I am using Bio Oil and it definitely moisturizes, they say to use it 2x a day but I've only been using it once a day.  I don't believe any of these products out there actually prevent stretch marks but it doesn't help to stay moisturized especially when the skin is stretching.

  • I am also using Bio Oil.  It's definitely oily so I only use it once a day before I go to bed, but I feel like it does the job well.  In the morning my stomach feels really and soft and not itchy.

  • I love the Burts Bees Mama lotion but I just buy Vitamin E at the store - it's way cheaper. I did that with my son and I didn't end up with any stretch marks.

  • I used Palmers cream with my DD & I did not get any stretch marks, so I am using it again now.

I think there are too many over-priced gimmicks out there, so I am sticking with an "oldy but goody" LOL  I would put it on from the top of my chest to my knees, so that I covered the majority of my body that would be "expanding", after I showered so that it could really absorb in well.

I did hear Vitamin E is really helpful too.

    Hope this helps... Good luck!

  • I havent started using anything yet ( I know I really need to, just dont think about it when I am at the store) but I have heard that emu oil is amazing at preventing stretch marks. I am open though to trying anything, just as long as I can get it easily.

  • I love my body butter from The Body Shop!  It really helps with the itch and dry skin.

I'm prone to stretch marks though, so I know it's only a matter of time...

ACK! Me too. My poor ta-ta's were full of stretch marks when I hit puberty (talk about feeling like a freak - big boobs AND red stretch marks all over - changing for gym in the locker room was so painfully embarrassing!!), plus my hips a bit. Wish there was something more we can do, but I guess it's just in our genes!

I've heard great things about Burt's Bee's Mama Bee stuff. I personally LOVE Earth Mama Angel Baby not only because it smells fantastic and feels great, but it's products are so natural and good for you; not full of things that are known to cause health defects and other issues down the line. Gotta love the FDA.

Yup!  That's where mine are: the hips and bewbs.  My poor bewbs will never be the same.

  • I am using St. Ives with Shea Butter, which is really great and makes my skin soft and not itchy.  I want to try the mamma bee lotion too because I love Burt's Bee's products.

I second this! What scent are you using? I love the mango and coconut but I'm thinking of switching to the brazil nut for the cool weather. It has a really nice warm creamy smell.

  • I'm using JASON brand pure vitamin e oil. it smells really good (like almond). I got it at whole foods. It's working really well so far. :) I already had stretchmarks because I was in the Army for 6 years and i was really small when i went to basic training (gained 20 lbs. in 9.5 weeks), which gave me stretchmarks. When you already have them, you tend to get more of them more easily than people who have none who get their initial ones, so I'd recommend it based on my experience.

And also, it's not all greasy and gross like most of the products are (it seeps in and stops your skin from itching), so I really appreciate that.
