My DH has a son from a previous relationship named after him but not a Jr. If we have a boy, he wants to name our son Jr. I'm protesting! I just don't want my kid to have the same first and last name as my step-son. Am I being petty?
Um, he already has one kid named after him, why does he need two? I don't think this is so much about the kid having the same name as the step-son, but about his apparent case of George Forman complex.
Although, I can't imagine that would make the step-son feel very good. He was good enough to have his dad's name, but now he needs to be practically replaced with his sibling from baby momma #2?
No! I don't think so. I'm not really for naming any children after the parents, but if you're going to, one son with the same first and last name is plenty, IMO. I'd find it weird to meet two brothers (even half brothers) with the same first and last name.

You're not being petty. That's just weird and confusing. This reminds me of George Foreman.
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

no you are not! That sounds ridiculous. So your DH wants to have three males in your house with the same first and last names? I guess he has "George Formanitis" lol he wants to name everyone after himself!
My little pumpkin was born at 34weeks, weighing 3lbs, due to severe IUGR & Unexplained Placental Insufficiency. He spent 49 days in the NICU.
My boss' dad named both his sons after him, different middle names. However, all three middle names start with the same letter. So their first, middle initial, and last names are all the same. I grew up with it becasue I've known him for a while, so I'm used to it, but they all go by their middle names because it would be impossible to go by their firsts. I would never do that...
My Dad has a cousin that married an idiot named Greg.. he had a son from a previous relationship, Greg Jr. Well, when they had their 1st son together.. they named him Gregory also.. what idiots.. Poor boy goes G.R. (his first and middle initial) since Greg (his dad) and Gregory (his half brother) were already taken...

This! Seems rather narcissistic, not to mention incredibly hurtful to your stepson's feelings.
I bet he wants a daughter named after him, too. And the family cat.

That's just weird. I'd protest that also.
Wasn't it George Foreman that named all his sons after him?
