Onieda Hospital opinions?

in Upstate NY Babies

I just moved to this area from Illinois last year so I don't have a clue on what hospital I should go to for delivery so I can't pick on OBGYN. We're half way between Syracuse or Onieda. Hubby hasn't heard great things about Crouse so we're looking at Onieda instead. Any advice? Suggestions? Opinions?

    My sister delivered at Oneida and loved it there! Her OB was Dr. Cooley and she had nothing but great things to saw about him. When I visited the hospital after my nieces arrival the nurse staff was great, and the private rooms were also a big plus for my sister.

    The downside to Oneida is that it is small.  If you have any problems with your pregnancy, they may send you to Utica instead of Syracuse which would be further for you.  Being in the middle, Chittenango?  I would go with a Syracuse area hospital.  I delivered at St Joes and was overall happy with it.  They have a very nice Birthing Center, I ended up with a c-sec though and sent to the regular recoevery.  I hated the rooms, but they remodeled last year and they are supposedly nicer rooms and all private.

    I would also go the Syracuse route.   I think that I heard that Oneida doe snot do epidurals...if you think that you might need one/want one.  Plus, you have many more specialists in the area.
