Re: can we discuss breech babies

  • Well, this is my second and he's not as accommodating as his sister was (flipped at 26 weeks and stayed that way). This one has mostly been transverse the whole time. I know there have been several people to point out spinningbabies.com. I tried some of the positions, and because of my back problems can't do some of the common positions for getting the baby to turn. Some ladies on here might point you in the direction of using chiropractic care to turn the baby. I've never had that done and can't try it now because of a back condition that would be made worse with chiropractic care.

When we went on vacation I sat in a hot tub and noticed that baby had turned the day after, so that might be an option you could try. Of course it needs to be turned down to around 98 for you to get in, and even then you aren't supposed to be in it up to your neck.

The other thing I was reading about is moxibustion. My book, "The Birth Partner" says that it is the only alternative that has prooven in studies to actually work. I hope you find something that works for you and baby soon! GL!

  • Not a personal anecdote by one of my cubicle-mates had her third baby last fall, it was breech up until the day she delivered. She was scheduled for a c/s and everything, then one morning the baby flipped and she went into labor immediately.

  • I don't have any advice for you, but I just wanted to let you know my LO is in the exact same position.... hopefully they straighten up and decide to turn!! LOL!!

  • DD was breech.  I looked at spinningbabies.com and tried a few things but there were some that I wasn't going to attempt - like the stuff with the stairs.

Babies can flip up until the bitter end, so don't stress yourself out too much.  And if you have a c/s, you have a c/s.  Its not the end of the world.  I survived mine with DD and am ok if I have to go through it again with this baby.

  • This LO was breech at my 30 week u/s and flipped by the time I had my 35 week u/s (although I am afraid she may have flipped again). There's still time, so good luck!

  • Mine is breech, and I think she is gonna stay that way because of where her placenta is, and since I have to have a c-section because of the placenta problem anyways, I am not thinking too much about how to flip her at this point. I must say, I am more comfortable this pregnancy having her transverse, haha! She isn't in my ribs or my bladder, just right across the middle! good luck to you flipping your LO though.

  • This baby has flipped twice - once from breech to head down and now he is Frank breech. It looks like I might have a gymnast in my belly.

You still have time to flip.

  • my baby is breech too, as of last apt.  They mentioned trying the inverse to flip her but I canceled it at the last min.  I decided to let nature take its course and if she doesn't flip, she doesn't flip.  I'm ok with that decision.  You can try the many different things available to help her to flip but my wallet just can't afford it.  Good luck and do what's right for you.

  • There's still time.  Any chance you might consider a chiropractor?

  • I'm not a 2+ mom, but at my 33 week ultrasound, lilly was breech... at my 36 week appointment, she was head down and had dropped....  Just be patient and try not to stress over it.

  • yeah im def trying to keep all hopes up. but if baby has to come via c section, then that's what has to happen, as long as he/she is safe. i had a friend tell me before that she knew someone that used acupuncture which worked and i have heard about chiropractors being an option.

  • I would try a chiropractor who is experienced in the Webster method. This LO was breech a little later than usual and after 2 chiro appts, he flipped head down and has stayed that way.
