DS #2 is still itty bitty but the one thing we've really struggled with is putting him down at night. He is a great sleeper during the day and in the middle of the night. He goes down easily whether it is nursing to sleep or just a little rocking. But for some reason putting him down for the night at bedtime is a chore. It takes us 2+ hours. He will fall asleep nursing and then I'll put him in the bassinet and he'll be up in 5 minutes. We'll pick him up, rock him a bit and he'll fall back to sleep but a few minutes after being in the bassinet he'll be up crying again. He doesn't do this during the day at all so I can't quite figure it out.
The past two nights the only way I've gotten him to sleep is on my chest while I lay on the couch. He'll sleep 3-4 hours (longer than he does any other time) and when he wakes I'll nurse him, swaddle him, and he'll go down easily in the bassinet then.
We've been starting the bedtime routine around 6:30/7 because he's showing signs that he's tired.
Any thoughts? Advice?
Re: Fighting going to bed at night...
At that age, DS had a similar issue but it was resolved by using one of my "dirty" tshirts as a sheet. I'd wear a tank all day so it smelled like me and my milk, and put it on his bassinett at night.
Hope it helps!
