Hi, I am looking into options for a good pediatrician. This will be my first so I am afraid of choosing wrong. Your suggestions and advice would be appreciated!!
When I lived in Drexel Hill we used Drexel Hill Peds in the Drexelline shopping center and I liked them well enough--they have a lot of drs so you may have to visit a few times until you find one you personally like (we saw Dr Jain who was great). Ive also heard really good things about the pediatrician in the Lawrence Park shopping center, in the Mainline Health building there. I dont recall what their name is, but its apparently a good practice as well.

We started at Springfield CHOP in the health plex. Right from the moment I walked in their office I knew it was not the place for my child. The waiting room was dirty and very crowded and I had children coughing on my 3 day old child while I was sitting in the healthy waiting section! I also, was unsure about vaccinations. I knew I was going to vaccinate, but just at a small scale. I was told that all the doc at this site felt the same about vaccinations and if I didn't feel the same way I could leave their group. Which I did!
I am now at Drexel Hill Peds. I see Dr. Soppas who is very kind. She is a little more laid back, and has been willing to work with me on a vaccination schedule. The office is clean and the sick and healthy sections are divided well. And if you are planning to breast feed Dr. Soppas is a lac specialist and very willing to help and/or guide you.
We also use Springfield CHOP and the doctors have been great. We usually see Dr. Galasso, but just met Dr. Callaghan at our last visit and she was wonderful!

We use Dr. Allen at Chop of Haverford. So far I really like them, they are so helpful, even when I call with the silliest questions. They came recommended to me by a friend whose kids have been going there for the past 4 years.
I LOVE Broomall Peds. They are in the Lawrence Park center in the MainLine Health complex. We see Dr. Lavoe...my opinion is going to sound a little weird...I can't stand the man....he is arrogant. But the fact remains...I would NEVER switch. My son was diagnosed with asthma and I wouldn't want any other doctor seeing him....although honestly all of the other doctors there are GREAT...I just have a love hate thing for Dr. Lavoe.
Story: When I called the after hours line the very first time I needed their help, another doctor was on call. The on call doctor called me and helped a great deal. But it just so happened that he was at a conference with Dr. Lavoe. As soon as I got off the phone with the on call doc, Lavoe called me! He didn't need to. The question was answered and my child was fine....but he was concerned and wanted to check on him. He's had the same level of concern for both of my kids ever since. I love him as a doctor because he seems to genuinly care about my kids...but he's arrogant..which is something I will GLADLY put up with for someone to give my kids the level of care and concern that he does.

Good Luck!
I LOVE springfield CHOP. Dr. Callaghan is the best.
I wrote this exact same post a year ago and got several recommendations for Dr. C. They have turned out well.
