I've been seriously thinking about applying for WIC, but it's just really confusing to know if I qualify. Financially, I do, but apparently you have to have a nutritional weakness, like anemia, to technically qualify. I'm not anemic anymore because of my prenatal vitamins, but I can't stop taking them just to qualify for WIC...gah.

Re: WIC
You can find out if you qualify for your state WIC program here

To my knowledge I never heard that you had to have a nutritional weakness to qualify, it was based on income alone.
The girls and I are healthy and our family meets the financial guidelines. I am on it now b/c I'm pg, but health/nutritional factors were somewhat needed as well. The nutritionist at the office I go to told me that she "approved" us and since I understood the nutritional recommendations we were supposed to have (not eating junk food, soda, and candy for all meals), so maybe that is what it refers to? I think that it depends on where you are and the population receiving it. I have a friend in Colorado who receives WIC, it isn't even addressed, but here in Memphis I have to talk to the nutritionist every time I go and discuss what the girls are eating - for meals and snacks. I guess that's what happens when you live in one of the top 10 unhealthiest places to live. I wouldn't worry about it to much - and definitely don't stop taking your prenatals/iron
I am so grateful for this program right now, it really helps us out.
this! If you qualify financially then you will most likely qualify.
