We have a 20 month old daughter and are expecting another baby in March. We have a part time nanny/babysitter come to watch our daughter now 2 days a week. (My husband and I work full time). The other days my mother in law watches her. When I am home on maternity leave for a few months, what do I do with my nanny? I can't say at this point how much I will need her, but I don't want to lose her when I go back to work. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Re: Having a second baby, how to handle a part-time nanny while I'm home from work?
Is your maternity leave paid? Basically, if you can afford to keep her, I would. I don't have 2 yet, but I can only imagine how much work it will be with a newborn and toddler, so those 2 days/week will be a much needed break and a chance for you to have snuggle/alone time with your new baby. This way, you get some help and you get to keep your nanny for when you go back to work. Win, win, win!
I would definitely keep her. Maybe she could take your LO to the park for a few hours twice a week so that you have a break. She could also help watch your LO's so that you have time to clean, catch up on laundry, nap, etc. And if for nothing else, it may be nice to have someone there with you to help redirect LO, entertain them, etc.
Obviously only if you can afford it.
