C-sections

Cold right before c-section

I came down with a cold over the weekend and am still feeling pretty stuffy.  My c-section is scheduled for Friday.  Should I call my doctor and let her know?  I didn't know if a cold would keep them from performing the surgery.

Also...I have a pre-op appointment with her on Thursday, so either way she will find out before the scheduled procedure.

TIA!

Re: Cold right before c-section

  • The OB might be able to give you some kind of antibiotic for the cold if it's serious (bronchitis, etc...).  That way perhaps everything will be cleared up for your surgery.  I don't think they'd delay a c-section because of a cold... Women go into labor all the time in various stages of colds/ illness.  If anything I'd just want to feel better by the time the baby comes PLUS it'll make recovery better if your cold is gone...
