The Pacifier Game

LO was doing really well with Nuks until the last few nights where she will scream the second it falls out. Sometimes this only goes a few rounds before she falls asleep but last night she kept doing it until I put her in her bouncer next to my bed so I could reach over and put it back in. 

Who else is playing the pacifier game? Anyone find a solution?

    I quit letting Hadley sleep with her pacifier b/c of the same reason. I get her to sleep without it and she doesn't miss it at all. She still loves it during the day.

    We use the soothies (so hard to keep in but he wont take any other paci) and I end up getting up and down for about 10 mins..This results in having DH take over after that-he's AMAZING at getting him down and then being able to take the paci out on the sly.  If only I could do it but whatever.  Our game will be starting around 9:30 tonight :)

    You're smart! I wish I had thought of this.... I hate the pacifier game. It can take upwards of 30-45 minutes some nights getting him to sleep!

    Mason spits his out as soon as he goes to sleep so I don't really have to deal with this. However, I did read a little trick somewhere. Can't remember where. During the day, play a little tug of war with the pacifier. When it's in his mouth, gently try to pull it out every few seconds over a few minutes. LO will suck harder and harder to keep it in. Do this several times a day. I guess it is supposed to train them to keep it in their mouth. I haven't had to try this, but maybe its worth a try.

    Also playing the pacifier game -- LO usually nurses to sleep, but if we do drowsy but awake he almost always requires it.  I can't wait for the day he can pick it up and put it back in himself!  When he goes back down after his nighttime feedings he doesn't need it, but it does help when he's struggling for naps and going down for the night the first time.

    That damn thing is a blessing and a curse -- but we've tried life without it and we were all MISERABLE!

    When we brought her home, we played it. I started to take the paci away because I didn't want to keep dealing with the game. Now, Aubrey doesn't like her pacifier at all. She'll pull it out and suck her thumb instead. I'm struggling with the thumb sucking. Sorry you have to play the paci game!

    It's a rock and a hard place, play the paci game now and be able to take it away later -- or let them suck their thumb (which most babies who have a need to suck will do without the pacifier) and then deal with that issue later as well.

    Our LO had a hard time keeping his paci in too. We found this thing called a BinkieBeanie online, and it is amazing! It holds the pacifier on his chest, and if he spits it out he can actually push it back in by himself. The website is www.binkiebeanie.com  This totally stopped the "pacifier game" for us. Hope this helps!
