What do you recommend for good condition/nice brand clothes (shirts vs pants vs sweaters, etc)? What about if they are new with tags on? Purses that are in great condition and fairly nice brands? New shoes?
Honestly I have found these items go for dirt cheap at garage sales. I haven't ever been able to sell them at a reasonable price which is sort of a shame. I know I try to take the approach of someone taking things in bulk. So instead of selling one shirt for $1 I would much rather sell 20 shirts for $15.
I price somewhat high for a garage sale, but I'm not usually selling well-used items either. Sadly, high for a garage sale is $2 per piece. I do 3 for $5 as well. Sometimes they sell well (like I had someone completely clean me out of 9-12mo stuff), sometimes they don't.
Garage sales are hard. Really people are thinking "it's used" even if it has tags on it. Seems like people will only want to pay a $1 or 2. You could try pricing is a little higher depending on the brand. It's so hard to say with what people will be coming through. My SIL had a garage sale a few months ago and we sat around to people watch. oooh my god the haggling that goes on was craazy to me. People refusing to pay $2 for a decent pair of tennis shoes barely worn, only wanted to pay .50. It's astounding what people will argue over.
