anyone ready to chop off their hair

OMG I HATE MY HAIR! It's falling out every where, he's always grabbing it, its wrapped around his paci, blankets, privates!, fingers, toes, toys added with all the dog hair I'm going insane! I have an app. this Thurs. and I am ready to snip snip snip! But then I feel like I'm doing "the mom" haircut but I can't take it.

  • I don't have the face for short hair, otherwise I'd be right there with ya. My widows peaks are becoming more widowy... lol

  • I hate my hair. It is long and Edmund has finally learned how to pull it. He gets his fingers wrapped around in it and then it takes me forever to get them out of it. 90% of the time my hair is in a messy bun because of this. It is still falling out in clumps but cutting it won't help with that other than make the chunks that come out shorter.

  • I didn't get it super short, but I got a few inches chopped off when she was born---it still falls out, its still everywhere, and I can't put it up, gonna let it grow out I think.

  • I can't do the short style either, but I'm ready to do the shoulder length chop!  I was going to do it today, but my hair stylist didn't get back to me in time (she does my hair "off the books" at home).

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • I have thought about it but I don't look good with short hair, so I just wear it up most of the time. I find that my hair is everywhere too and when it is down, DS pulls it. I can't figure out what to do with it other then wearing it up. Sad

  • Trust me...they can still pull short hair, I know from experience!
  • YES!  But, I look a lot better with longer hair.  Plus, I can put it in a pony tail if I really don't feel like doing it.

It is terrible though.  It is hard to not want to cut it all off!

  • I chopped my hair off about a week ago. I've had short hair before and I always liked it. I let it grow while I was preggo but once it started coming out in clumps I had to cut it. Don't think of it as a "mom" cut...you can get a great cut and style with short hair. It is super easy to do...I say go for it Smile

  • I chopped mine! 8 inches! Not because it was a nuisance but because it dried up after LO came out. Its still to my shoulders so I can trow it up if needed and Im SO happy I did it! Ive NEVER been able to do short hair, but this isnt so bad.
  • I was just telling DH I was going to shave my head because I am already tired of her grabbing my hair.

This. It also is still very noticeable when it falls out EVERYWHERE!!
  • My hair is naturally curly and frizzes like no other when it's humid. I HAVE to keep it long enough that I can pull it into a ponytail or I'm screwed. I wish I could cut it though.

I have an appt next week - I may see if there's something she can do that is still "wash and go" or "baby woke up early and I didn't get a shower". But B got my hair on Thursday and it HURT! DH had to unclasp his hand for me and get all the hair he pulled out from in between his fingers.

  • Tempting, but I hate the way I look with short hair.  I also know I only have so many more years before I can have long hair so I may as well keep it that way for now.  Plus, it gets better (more time/energy/less pulling).

  • You're about where I was when I chopped mine. 10" donated to Locks of Love! D still pulls it and it still falls out, but my hair feels healthier and it's nice to do something besides wear it back all the time.

  • I had super short hair in college, then grew it long.  It was long when I got pregnant (middle of my back) and now all it is about an inch and a half long pixie cut!  It is just easier this way!

  • yep. I want a bob but am too much of a wimp. Plus it's just now getting long like I've always wanted. I'm torn.
  • I can't bring myself to cut it. I really hate the way I look with short hair but keeping it pulled up doesnt even seem to be helping even. My hair is just everywhere all the time. Last night poor DD woke up screaming and I could not figure out what was wrong with her. After trying almost everythig I could think of I noticed a hair on her chin and when to take it off it turned out to be not just on her chin but a hair about 10 to 12 inches long in her mouth and down her throat!! The only thing I can think to solve the issue is shaving my head but I don't think DH will go for that.

  • My DD is a MASTER hair-puller, so my hair is always in a ponytail now haha. but nope, not gonna give into the new-mom haircut yet.

  • I chopped mine a month in.  If it wasn't in a pony tail DD was getting it and I figured I was doing a lot of damage putting it up wet.  I got a choppy cut that doesn't look to "Mom cut" like.  Its also so easy to take care of...just wet, gel and go.  Takes less than 5 minutes.  The lady that cut it kept asking if I was going to cry since I cut almost 9 inches off.

  • I swore I wouldn't do the "mommy hair" thing either, but I finally caved and got it chopped a couple weeks ago.  I'm so glad I did! It took me 2 years to get it long like I liked it, but then when DS was born, I just didn't have the time for it - took too long to wash and condition, blow dry, straighten, etc. - so I just always threw it up in a frumpy old pony tail or bun, and I hated that. I got it cut almost up to my chin and layered up, and it's so easy to take care of now, and I don't feel like a bum! Not to mention DS isn't always yanking on it now. I say go for it. :-)

  • If I didn't look like crap with short hair, yes. Every day handfuls of hair fall out, it's to the point where I can't even be irritated at the dogs shedding because mines worse!

  • Haha yes, I would have cut mine ages ago...but I wear wigs so if I cut them they won't grow back!!  And the good ones are so expensive that buying a short one is not a casual purchase.  I've taken to almost always wearing scarves instead.  It keeps the shedding under control too!
