Hey CD ladies...

When you take the diaper off your babies butt, what do you put it in until it gets washed? I know I can't just toss them in her regular laundry basket because then they would only get washed like once a week.  Do I just put another basket in her room?  Wouldn't it smell then?

Re: Hey CD ladies...

  • we have a wet bag that hangs on the door knob by the changing table. It's a water proof cloth trash bag basically, so you can wash it with the diapers. You could also use a small trash can with a lid and a trash bag no problem. Throw everything in there until you're ready to wash. We wash every 2-3 days and it is stinky bad when I open the bag up to throw in the washer, but it doesn't smell in the room since it's closed up mostly. I'm sure others here will have better advice, we tend to do the least amount of work possible... so our set up is super basic.

  • We've tried a plastic pail with a lid, and a big zippered wetbag. I definitely prefer the wetbag, I just toss the whole thing in the machine when it's time to wash.

  • We have a trashcan-sized wetbag that lines a step-open trashcan. It usually only smells when we open it. Washing often also prevents the stink from getting too bad. Diapers should be washed every 2-3 to prevent ammonia build-up (both stinky and wears out the diapers faster).
  • I use a step can with a pillow case in it.  The whole thing goes in the washer.  It doesn't smell her room up at all.

  • I have a flip-top lidded trash can that I line with a fancypants wetbag pail liner.  It has elastic around the mouth of the bag that holds it up, and a deluxe inner PUL lining... that completely f*ckin disintegrated after like 2 wash cycles, even though I babied that piece of sh*t.

If you're thinking of buying a special wetbag, don't buy this one, from Mommy's Touch.  ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NEVJKS ) I mean, unless you enjoy picking tiny pieces of detached, discolored PUL out of your soakers and/or feel like wasting $20 plus shipping.  I really wish I just used a regular laundry bag or a pillowcase.

  • I alternate two big hanging zippered wetbags.  When one is getting washed I just use the other.  I like Planet Wise and Monkey Foot Designs on Etsy.
