I see posts all the time about not using your own underwear and just using the super comfy mesh undies that the hospital gives out.
I just want to warn people that not all hospitals have them so either check ahead of time or pack a few extra pair of your own undergarments just in case.
The only thing they offered me was what appeared to be a miniature cotton bale encased in some sort of sleeve.
I used the always infinity I brought with me and used the cotton monstrosities to knit booties, a receiving blanket, 3 sweaters, 4 pairs of long johns and a lovely coozy/cover for the hospital's TV. (full disclosure I can't really knit)
Re: PSA on the mesh panties
How are you supposed to hold the gigantic pad in place? The one they gave me was about 3 square yards in size...give or take a couple feet
The thing was massive, it would have popped out of both ends of normal underwear. Those hospitals...I swear, you pay an ass_load of money to have your child there and they no longer offer the mesh underwear???
I wonder if you can buy it online?
....Ah-Ha! Found some...

This is why one should never leave home without duct tape.
I didn't get the mesh panties when I had DS, and the pillows they gave me to shove between my legs didn't have any adhesive strips, so I was stuck trying to keep my legs closed at all times and not move around too much so it wouldn't come out of place.

Yea, the pads they give you at the hospital are like bed pads for patients who have accidents... I guess the good thing about that would be you could wear them for days without making a mess. lol. Let's hope no one really does that.
You may not be the only one......
I also made good friends with a PP nurse who was 35 weeks pregnant and she "snuck" me some extras during my 3 day stay...
Well Ms. Fancy Under Pantsy. We can't all deliver in the Hilton of hospitals. I suppose they have food available too! I had to eat left over crackers my Dr. stole from some poor nurse at 1 am, after I had to walk 5 miles up hill both ways to the labor and delivery room which turned out to be a rice paddy during a blinding snow storm. (truth, she did steal the crackers as I hadn't eaten in 13 hours, but I delivered in July so it was just light flurries).
They gave me a NB diaper with the lining cut and ice inserted into it. Actually worked pretty well.
LOL My delivery was over two years ago... I still have the underwear, the water bottle thingy, and even two ice pads. I have them stuffed in the back of my "monthly" drawer, so don't give them a lot of thought, but I suppose it's weird that I still have all that stuff.
And obviously we can't all have manners, either. I was sharing my experience and responding to a post. Not asking anyone to crap on what I say. And yes, they do have food and snacks. Do you want to crap all over that too?
They don't really have much. And I guess the L&D ladies bring in cakes and Dunkin Donuts all the time but we were already warned not to touch it. That would be amazing if someone would serve me Dunkin Donuts all day long.
I'm hoping to buy my own because our hospitals offer nothing (but I guess I can't complain since my entire L&D is covered by the government), but I'm afraid if I order online they won't get here in time. I need to go find a pharmacy and see if they have any.
