Random (probably dumb) real estate question

So, if a "twin home" is listed for sale... does that mean that the whole thing is for sale, or just one half of it?  Does that make sense?

Re: Random (probably dumb) real estate question

  • I think it depends: Is the house identical, fraternal or conjoined?

  • Are they "natural" twins?  Or clomid twins?

  • Well, for those of us that are mature, I don't have a friggin clue.

I'm going to assume it's just the half.

  • They're totally spontaneous identical twins.

For serious, though.  Anyone have a clue?  I'm leaning toward the option that only 1/2 of the home is for sale.  Bah.

  • I thought the sarcasm was obvious in my reply, but you know I'm just yanking ya with the mature thing, right? :-)

  • I would guess that if it wasn't noted that it was just one half of the duplex that was available that the whole thing would be available.

I'd give the realtor a call and ask to be certain.

Like a duplex.  Picture the home as conjoined identical twins.  Same on both sides, but connected.

  • It depends on how it is titled.  If there is one strap number for both sides then it's sold together.  If there are two strap numbers then they are each their own properties.

I see.  We call those condos here.  :)  I'd imagine that it is just the one unit for sale.

I don't understand why people want a unit in a 2-unit condo.  You get all the headaches of condo living without many benefits.

I don't understand it either, nor would I ever consider living in one.  I would like to buy one, though.

  • Since I'm from your area, I'll take a stab in the dark, if you are using the Edina Realtor website, go to the map feature, and where it says Type, there is a drop down, it automatically sets to residential.  If you change that to multifamily, or rentals, it should have duplexes to buy.  Hope that helps!

OMG thank you so much!!!  I like the Edina Realty site.  That's where I do all my searching.
