I've seen others where the participants put in $5 or something and the pool goes to the parents, but my DH is handling a pool for all the grandparents and siblings and he offered a prize to the winner, but we can't decide what the prize should be! All I can think of is a gift certificate to a store like Target or something, or maybe scratch tickets. Any other ideas? I'm thinking a reasonable amount like $15...

(Same birthday, 2 years apart!)
Re: Anyone have a baby delivery date pool going? Need some ideas for the prize...
I am confused. Is the money in the pool for the winner? Or do you guys get the money in the pool with $15 set aside for the winner?
I'll be honest, if your DH is setting up a pool for you guys to get the money, that sounds a little tacky.
Most pools that I have heard of all the money in the pool goes to the winner - not the person that organized the pool.
I like that!
Got it, this sounds much better!
We had a "no $" pool on the gender at my DH's work. The prize was being right. (it's a bunch of guys so they have the pride thing, LOL)
For a gift-maybe a prize basket with stuff from the $ store? If you bake, some "gift certif." for your baked goodies, like a pie at Thanksgiving and cookies at X-mas?
My sister started a $5 pool based on gender, date and weight. The money is the prize and the winner gets it all, I didnt want it to seem like the pool was being done so we could get some extra cash. Though I was surprised to find out that most people asked what we (DH and I) were getting out of the pool and when they were told nothing we bought a chance like everyone else they were surprised.
If you are doing a no $ pool I would think a $15 dollar gift card would be good, but if the people got in on the pool knowing no money was put in they may not be expecting anything other than being able to gloat that they won. PP's baked goods idea was a good one!
Edit:I just re read your post and saw that a prize was offered. So scratch what I said about the gloating. If it was me I would do the baked goods idea.
My parents set up a big bad one ($20 to pick a day, half goes to baby stuff, half goes to the winner) so the winner will probably get a good $100-$200.
I like the store gift card idea, a restaurant gift card if you wanted to do somewhere inexpensive (kind of annoying to get a card to outback for $10), and the baked goods idea. Or maybe movie tickets, I always like to get those.
