Any recs? I guess I'll be looking to start in late November/early December? I'm in Pflugerville so North is good, Round Rock... Any where around there. Price isn't much of a concern. TIA!
AA, I'm not trying to be mean, but you've made several comments in your posts that make me think you are constantly trying to remind us of how much money you have. We know by now that price isn't an issue for you, I promise. Its coming off as a little braggy (to me).
MrsNole and I were in class together with DeAndrea Jones. I liked her. The cost was $250 per couple and I think that's pretty standard for Austin.
SHe is also a doula with the GetBabied coop. One of the couples in our class used her, and they were consequently the only ones with an unmedicated birth. The rest of us all had some sort of complication and/or induction, though, so that probably doesn't mean much. Another couple used an apprentice Doula from Get Babied. Their rates are on their site, I think. https://www.getbabied.com/
Are you for sure you want to use Bradley? The only reason I ask is that I used hypnobirthing and loved it. It sounds weird (I hate the name) but I loved the premise behind it--relax your mind and body so that you break the fear-tension-pain cycle.
I've had friends who loved Bradley, as well, so whatever you want to do is great! Just thought I'd suggest another med-free alternative. I'm happy to give you more details about it if you're interested.
Our instructor was totally awesome and she is also a doula. I'd HIGHLY recommend her
One thing I liked about her is that she's very down to earth and she was great with the dads--didn't freak them out. My DH is a meat and potatoes guy's guy and he really liked her a lot.

I was looking into both. One of my friends recommended taking a Bradley class and then reading a book on hypnobirthing, then kind of mixing what works best for you. Thoughts on that?
Also, I just wanted to say.....yes, I have seen you make it clear in several posts that y'all are in a great financial position. I don't think that you gloat about it and although I'm jealous, I also think it's super awesome that your DH has a great job and that y'all have made wise decisions which will allow you a life that most of us won't have (early retirement, a house that's paid for, etc.)
Our Bradley Class instructor was Chan McDermott and we really liked her.
This is who we used. We thought the class was great. She does classes both south and north, but I suggest looking into her schedules sooner rather than later so that you don't miss the one that is north for this round.
I did Bradley the first time and hypno the second time and honestly for me, I preferred Bradley. I have a long answer, but the short version is that I felt like Bradley worked better with my personality/background (athletics, respond well to coaching, etc.). The hypno exercises were great for relaxing, but when in labor, we did mostly Bradley stuff.
I think I'd lean in the direction of choosing one and devoting my practice time to that. Learn as much as you need to about each one and then decide which best suits you and your personality and what your DH will feel comfortable with. I know you're the one giving birth, but you obviously want him supporting the learning you're doing. If he's bought in to the process, it certainly helps.
I was able to really stay relaxed during my whole labor; the various positions they taught us helped me tremendously. I just liked how calm, quiet and peaceful my labor was. I'm happy to email you my birth story--I think it gives you a pretty good idea of what a HB labor/delivery looks like.

that would be great! Thanks so much. My email is angelaggie at msn dot com.

This is what I mean by figure out what works for you and your personality. I was a D1 collegiate athlete and HB appealed to me because of my athletic background, as well (but obviously, rssn and I saw the appeal of each differently).

We used Chan and loved her! Take the class earlier it gives you more time to prepare. I think the prices was about $150 (think it was $25 per class but don't quote me on that)
We used Shelley Scotka for our doula and loved her. She was amazing and a great fit with our personalities.
We used Karina Bolger (in RR) for Bradley classes and as our doula for my daughter's birth. We hired her again for a Bradley refresher before my son's birth. I had beautiful, low intervention births with both of my babies and I credit her for a big part if that, esp with my first born. I adore Karina! I'm happy to answer any specific questions via email - cnapierk @ aol.

Me, too.
I get it. Ok. I apologized. I didn't realize I was doing it.

We seriously have to be the worst class she's had! Ha!
But to the OP, I definitely recommend De'Andrea!! She was super cool and DH got so much out of it. People always ask him if he was nervous through out the whole process and he tells them no, he was so prepared because of our Bradley classes.

I have 2 good friends who took hypnobirthing classes and loved it. Their instructor is the person who owns the birthing center in Georgetown. You might look and see if they have any Bradley Classes since it's pretty close to your area.

Ditto. And even if I thought it was braggy, eh, who cares?
hope you find a class you love- then tell me all about it!
Re: Rec your Bradley Class and/or Doula
Maybe I've misjudged you, then. I'm sorry if I have. Carry on.

ETA: The class was $300, not $250.
