DD only has 3 pairs of shoes (sandals, tennies, fancy black) that fit right now so I'm headed out for more. I'm curious how many types of shoes other LO's have and actually wear.
One pair of tennies (white-ish) and one pair of brown shoes that are actually more tennies than formal but will serve the purpose.
Summer's harder: crocks, flip flops, water shoes, keens, sandals. We get a lot of hand me downs.
*** ETA: Oops... forgot the cleats. Only 1 pair that's been handed down but currently in use and in the shoe cubbie.
I can't imagine the trouble I'd get in if I had a girl.
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Each kid has a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of sandals, and a pair of pool shoes. I only buy dress shoes if we have an occasion to wear them (ie, holidays).
Right now, DD1 has four -- sandals (open-toed, so she can't wear them to preschool); tennis shoes; brown athletic mary janes, and I just picked up a pair of pink, sparkly Converse on clearance at Target. She needs dress shoes.
Oh, and I got her a pair of soccer cleats at a kids consignment store this weekend. So I guess that's five, technically.
I usually stick with 2-3 pairs, but have expanded that since she needs closed-toe shoes for the playground at preschool and I don't want just one pair of shoes taking the brunt of that.
Before I tell you how many just keep in mind that DD's foot hasn't grown much in the past year and we got tons of hand me downs from a good friend. DD has at least 15 pair. 3 pairs of boots, 4 pairs of tennis shoes, ballet shoes, white closed toe sandals, brown dress mary janes, 3 pair of black mary janes, pink suede mary janes, soccer cleats, and I am sure I could find another couple pair hiding in her closet.

DD has a pair of sneakers, plus a second pair that has to remain at school for gym day. She has a sturdy pair of brown Mary Janes that she can wear with dresses but still run and play, plus a black patent leather pair for really fancy dresses, and a pair of snow boots for winter. In the summer she had a pair of sandals but she's just outgrown them and it's getting too cold for that now, so I won't buy new ones until late spring. She had more in her last size and honestly, they went to waste.
ETA: I'm not counting the plastic "princess" shoes or the shoes for her ballet and tap classes, as those don't get worn for any other purpose.
Now that I just put flip flops away, DD has a pair of rain boots, a pair of black and a pair of silver dress shoes (like ballet flats), a pair of Twinkle Toes, and a pair of Robeez with regular soles. When it gets cooler I have a pair of Ugg knockoffs (from TCP) to throw in the mix but she will probably need more shoes.
7- Black dress shoes, white sandals, pink tennis shoes, brown tennis shoes, purple dress shoes, tan Ugg style boots, and some flip flops from the summer. Still need to buy her some snow boots and silver dress shoes.
Re: How many pairs of shoes?

DS -- 3YO
Easy for us because we've got boys.

White closed toe sandals - bought it May
Dora Sneakers - new, still a little big
Black Mary Janes - new, still a little big
