Gloves or hats you love?

Before I go out and buy some, just thought I'd check to see if you ladies found any particular brands or styles that really stay on (or have other important qualities that I haven't been a mom long enough to realized I'll need).

I don't have a brand in mind, but a few ideas on the qualities to look for--at this age, go for mittens over gloves and get them CHEAP and buy MULTIPLES, because you will lose them...or at very minimum not be able to find one of them when you need to go out the door;)

For hats, see if you can find something that attaches under the chin. Doesn't guarantee it will stay on, but it helps;)

And if you haven't bought a winter coat or boots, buy it now...those items are really hard to find after October (unless you go online). And in for those items--buy big. I have gotten 2 years out of coats in most cases by buying them a bit big.

thanks! I never thought of buying multiples of the same mittens - so smart!!

we actually bought a cute coat on clearance just after he was born and it looks like we picked the right size, so we're all set there.

I bought M a fleece hat and mittens from Old Navy last year, and I was happy with the quality and price.

We got a fleece hat (that velcros under the chin - CRUCIAL) at Target last year and were really happy with it. The mittens that came with it didn't have thumbs, so they'd be fine for a little baby but were kind of annoying for C. The hat itself was worth it, though.

I also like fleece hats that velcro under the chin. Also, I get most of my winter gear at Unique Thrift Store in Rockville because it's $1-$2 per item and that way it's not a huge deal if it gets lost. Also, I like having extras so I can keep some at daycare, some in the car, some at home, etc.

Thanks! I was also thinking of checking out Wiggle Room in Bethesda - I got a lot of great maternity stuff there but haven't really been back for baby stuff.

Last year I got a hat off of Kidsteals, and it worked out great. I need to it on him again to see if it will work again this year.

It was a hat that came down to sort of act as a scarf too. I just tried to look for a picture online, but couldn't find one.

It had a cut out for his face, and he wasn't able to pull it off.

I've gotten DS the all-in-one (or something like that name) at the Children's Place the last 2 winters, and plan to get him one this year too. What I like is that it's two pieces...a fleece jacket on the inside, and an warmer shell on the outside. The pieces separate, so I can use just the fleece in this cooler weather, and in and out of the car, and use the shell part on top when it gets really cold and when we're going to be spending time outside.
