Do people really wear 5 inch heels to work?

Or am I just a fashion slacker?

I'm trying to find some work shoes. I'm okay with 4", even though they're still a little much. I'd prefer somewhere between 3" - 4". I can't find anything that doesn't look like a 90 y/o woman's Sunday church shoes with less that a 4 1/2 inch heel.

Help? Where do you find shoes? I need black, preferably close toed. Oh, and I'm not paying much for these things. I'm not a that kind of shoe person at all. As in, I'd MAYBE spend $50. Yeah, I know, I'm cheap.

To answer your semi-rhetorical question, yes but usually only if they work in the strip club. ;-) And then the 5 inch heels also must be lucite.

To answer your real question - check out Zappos.com. You can narrow your seach by heel height / color / price / other variables. And shipping & returns are free.

I haven't been in the corporate world for 6 months, but yes, some women in my office wore 5" heels. I didn't, but I have plenty of 3-4" pumps that don't look matronly. I shop mostly at DSW, but also got a few pairs at Marshalls or Kohls. I wore lots of dressy flats too since I had to walk from the train to my office. On days I wore higher heels i'd wear flats or sneakers in and change at my desk (most of my coworkers did the same.)

Yeah, I actually have a pair at kohls on the list. This is a big purchase for me, because I keep the same shoes for a couple years at least. And I'll end up wearing these all the time.

I rarely wear heels of any kind. I guess I'm just an old school marm in my flats. ;-)
