Noise Machine

I know we've talked about these before but I'm too tired to go searching...who has one that does not turn off on it's own? I'm getting desperate to try anything to get her to sleep longer. Or, if no noise machine, maybe a CD rec that I could put on auto-repeat?

Re: Noise Machine

  • What about using a small fan?

I'm pretty sure you can find white noise videos on YouTube and put them on a loop.

  • I used the radio and just had it on my favorite station. When she was sleeping in our room the tv was always on so I could watch it when I woke up to feed her and so when I moved her to her crib I figured the radio would be fine.

  • Homedics SoundSpa Portable Sound Machine.  You can put it on a timer or play continuously.  It plugs in or uses batteries.  It has 6 sounds.  We use the ocean one but the waterfall one is basically white noise if that is what you want.  I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond for 20 bucks.  It certainly hasn't been a magic bullet for us, but I think she is doing somewhat better with naps and putting herself back to sleep when she wakes at night.  Hope that helps!
  • i just bought a homedic cool mist humidifiet saturday and it includes a soundspa with four different sounds (white noise, summer night, heartbeat, and lullabye). you can choose for it (the sound) to run continous or shut off after 30 minutes.

This! We got ours on amazon. I was also looking for something that doesn't turn off because the sleep sheep kept waking DD up when it turned off. Love this machine!

  • I have the graco sound machine- it has several diferent white/ nature noises (ocean waves, womb sounds, whale noises, crickets at night, and a waterfall I think). It also plays some classical music/ lullabies and has an MP3 input and built in nightlight.  It was around $40.  It plugs in or uses batteries and I play it all night.  It does have a timer you can set but I never do so it plays continuously.

I will say that I don't like the nightlight on it b/c it's a little loud when you push it down- like the plastic is rubbing.  If M's not in a deep sleep it will startle her.  So I use a different light for night feedings.
