Hey all.
I've only posted here a few times but I wanted your honest opinion on the name of our DD #2. We are thinking about naming her Joslynn Ruth. It combines my mom's MN, Jo, and my mother in law's MN Lynn.
We are thinking about calling her Josie or maybe sometiems just Jo for short.
The middle name is still up in the air, but Ruth is one of my favorite women in the Bible and I like the meaning of the name ("friendship or companion").
Here are my questions...
1. Do you like the name?
2. Do you think spelling it Joslynn rather than Jocelyn is ok?
3. Do you have a better MN suggestion for her?
FYI DD#1 is named Halle Jane.
Re: Give me your honest opinion!
1. No.
2. Hellz no.
3. Jean-Ralphio.
Snake Juice sales are gonna be off the CHURT. Why? Because that shiz is straight up del-oy-cious.
1. I like the name, but...
2. DON'T SPELL IT THAT WAY, PLEASE! "Jocelyn" still has the parts that are a tribute to your family. You can also still use your nickname.
3. I like your middle name, nice work.
The spelling is off-putting to me and forced.
And this is also why I dont' really always understand naming a child after people. Do you REALLY want to name your DD after both moms, or are you doing it because you feel like if you do one, you "have" to do the other too?
It's not horrible, but it doesn't make me go "Oh, awesome!".

1, Yes I think it is a great name and beautiful meaning behind it.
2. It has never bothered me to see a name spelled differently as long as it looks like it should still be pronounced the same way(which yours does). Plus this spelling is not that far off
3. Ruth is NMS but I think it sounds fine with the FN and it has another special meaning to you.
1. It's NMS, but a fine name.
2. No, I think you should spell the name correctly.
3. No, I like your reasons for using Ruth.
Sidenote: I think Halle and Jocelyn make a nice sibset.
And with Halle, I do like Jocelyn. But not Joslynn.

1. Although it is not my favorite name, I love the meaning behind it. I find that to be more important. I do like the nn Josie.
2. Please spell it Joslynn
3. Any other family names for a middle name?
1. I like the name
2.Please spell it Jocelyn!
3. Jocelyn Ruth is cute!!
1. Jocelyn Ruth is a lovely name.
2. Please don't create a new spelling for a perfectly nice name.
3. No--I think Jocelyn Ruth is perfectly lovely.

As for family names, I don't feel like I HAVE to include both women. Neither would feel left out if I just used Jo or just used Lynn. I have a reallly awesome mom and MIL. I just really love that both names are used in a name I really like.
This. I love the name Josie.
. Jocelyn is pretty, and the alternative spelling of Joslynn really takes away from the name.
1. I like the name. HOWEVER...
2. I hate the spelling. Jocelyn is so much better. Also Josie is more of a nn for Josephine to me.
3. Ruth sounds fine with Jocelyn.

1. Jocelyn isn't really my style but I have no negative connotations with it and definitely don't go "ew" when I hear it! If you really want to honor both grandmothers, I think it's a lovely choice.
2. Spell it Jocelyn. The "Jo" and the "Lynn" will both still be there (the "Jo" more in the spelling and the "Lynn" in the pronunciation).
3. LOVE Ruth. Tried to put it on the table as a first name for us, but husband vetoed. Like PPer said, I absolutely adore Ruth in Fried Green Tomatoes.
1. It's ok. It sounds a little dated, but Josie Ruth is cute.
2. The spelling is horrendous. Spelling correctly still has the same meaning and connection. Make it easier on your daughter.
3. Jocelyn Adele comes to mind. But, if Ruth means something to you, use it. It sounds fine and who is going to know the mn anyways? I will say that it doesn't quite "go" with your DD's name though.
this
Funny! I'm in Omaha too and thought about this also.
1. yes
2. absolutely not
3. I like Ruth with Jocelyn.
It never even occurred to me it would be pronounced like "Jocelyn" until someone suggested you use that spelling! I totally thought it was Joslynn = "Joz-lynn".
Which I don't mind at all. But I DO like Jocelyn Ruth better than "Joz-lynn" Ruth
1. Do you like the name?
I like Jocelyn. Joslynn looks awful IMHO and looks like it would be pronounced totally different than Jocelyn.
2. Do you think spelling it Joslynn rather than Jocelyn is ok?
No, I wouldn't do it if you are going for the same name. She will be spelling it for people her whole life.
3. Do you have a better MN suggestion for her?
I think Jocelyn Ruth is pretty.
