I am not worried but I do find it odd. Jay has been in the 95+% for height sense he was born and the 85% for height sense he was born. But he has dropped down to the 75% for weight. I think he is really skinny for how tall he is. Our well check is this week and I know he is fine but it bothers me that his weight % has dropped.
Is it normal? I am sure it's because he is more active now.
Re: Weight gain? Baby related
Im sure its normal. We have her 9 month appointmentthis frday, I cant wait!! But if it makes you feel any better, she was over all 5% when she was born and then jumped up to 36th percentile at 4 months. At 6 months she fell down to 21 % i believe. They had us come back for a weight check, and sure enough she was fine. She is just having growth spurts a her own pce and sometimes slows down. sometimes I look at her and think she is so skinny and I panic. Then two days later she looks chunky again.
The weight/height percentile stuff is based on a comparison to other kids vs a specific measurement.
I'm not being a condescending b*tch (FOR ONCE, lol), because I know you know that, but I know for me I didn't really get what that meant until I got some wonky measurements. At Joaquin's 6 month, she was all 20th-ish like she's always been since she popped back up from her eensy-weensy birth size... but she was 75th in height, because she'd just had a bigtime growth spurt. Jay's kind of drop is easily attributed to other kids not being as active as he is or him not eating quite as well that week or day or any number of other factors.
In other words, if he's low today, whatever. If he continues to drop over time, or if he starts getting sluggish, shows signs of allergy, etc., that's when the red flags go up.
