Hi ladies! I've been a lurkier over on the Trying to Get Pregnant board - although I thought maybe this board would be a better fit for my question. I have one 2 year old daughter and my husband and I are trying to get pregnant again. I have recently been diagnosed with vaginal prolapse. All I can find online are horror stories and I'm just looking for any positive pregnancy stories. Has anyone had or know of someone that has had a normal positive pregnancy with vaginal prolapse? This is so scary to me:(.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but I'm wondering if the "High Risk Pregnancy " board or "Trouble TTC" boards may be more likely to have women who are in a similar situation or maybe they have run across others whom have shared their success stories.

Hello! lurking from 2nd tri...almost ready for third tri. I have both 'mild' vaginal & rectal prolapse. It is not so severe that surgery is recommended. This is my third pregnancy and all three have been normal, I delivered the first two vaginally & we're planning a homebirth for number three. After my second delivery, the doc had to reposition my nether bits, but it didn't hurt. I was advised in my case that there isn't much I can do about it other than exercise & kegels (I'm not convinced they work however...). In between this pregnancy and my last, I joined roller derby. The core exercise work did wonders for strengthening my pelvic muscles. I still can't do plyo-work for long or it feels like things are falling. So far no horror stories. I'll admit that there are some really horrific stories out there and I feel for those ladies. The little bit of extra peeing & clean up for myself is hassle enough...For myself, I try to exercise, not strain during bm's, and when it's time to push baby, I don't do directed/purple pushing & just go with my body cues. There is 'more' of a pressure feeling, and so far, I've not experienced a full prolapse during pregnancy and fwiw, it's supposed to be rare. I hope this eases some of your fears. Pelvic, bladder and rectal prolapse are all pretty common and often unspoken about. I don't think some ladies even know that they have mild cases and when I asked both my mom & grandma about it, they were all 'well, that's just what happens!'.
I have a prolapsed bladder and rectum from my 1st delivery. I am terribly bothered by it, even in the 3 years of non-pregnancy since DD was born. They also told me to do kegels, and that I would need surgery, but couldn't have it until I was done having kids (I also think the kegels are b.s.).
Since I've been pregnant, I've been having more & more problems, particularly with the rectal prolapse. I have terrible hemmoroids & anal fissures, and I have incontinence issues from both ends. I also have a hard time going to the bathroom.
I've decided to have an elective c-section because the only thing left to prolapse is my uterus, and I don't want to have a hysterectomy in my early 30's. It runs in my family, so it's only going to get worse for me if I keep having babies vaginally.
I'm actually thinking about calling a rectal surgeon (at almost 34 weeks!) & making an appointment before the baby is born. I was going to wait, but I'm in a lot of pain & it's getting worse.
As far as having a "normal" pregnancy....this one was pretty much the same as my first pregnancy, when I didn't have the prolapses. It's just that I'm having more continence & rectal bleeding issues now. I don't know if a vaginal prolapse is different than what I have, but if not, I don't see why you can't have a normal, although slightly more miserable, pregnancy.
Good luck! It sucks
