We're having a boy and my husband really wants the name Samuel. I LOVE the name, but my hesitation is out last name is Stanford. Do you think Samuel Stanford sounds weird???
I think it sounds a *little* weird, so if you were meh on the name it maybe would be enough reason to not, but it is a very minor "...huh." If you both love the name I say go for it! (Just pick a non-S middle name
I think it's fine. I love the nn Sam! I married into an alliterative name and I love the way it sounds. Almost all the boy names I like start with a C and so does our last name. I'm definitely not letting it stop me!
I'm Suzanne Sch_____ and the S's all run together and make it sound like I'm drunk and slurring. You have to enunciate both names very well to avoid the problem, and that's kind of a PITA.
Your pick isn't quite as bad as my name, but I'd steer clear of S names just to avoid the problem altogether. Throwing in a non-S middle name does nothing, since no one really uses their middle name in conversation.

I think it sounds fine. I like alliteration with names. Just hope he doesn't have a speech impediment.

Not at all. Stanley Stanford...yes. For me it's usually when the first 2 letters are the same.

I like it! I have an S last name too. I find that if the first names ENDS in an S is when things start to sound weird.
I'm going to be the lone dissenter here.
