Food Allergy

Beechnut Baby Food

So our LO is now eating stage II foods. I liked Beechnut the best because the ingredients are just what you see (water and apple, or water, etc.) there are no big word ingredients. Eventually I will make my own food but since we started about a month and a half ago eating solids and enjoying them food was wasted, and it took a lot of time to make the foods I initially started out with.

I was really surprised to see that Beechnut offered raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Well I followed the 3 day rule and we got through the strawberries ok, didn't see too much change in the poop or behavior, and then came the raspberries, and it was all downhill! Diarrhea for days, and after 4 days her poops just now started to normalize, and my hubby took our LO to get her vaccines so now she's hardly wanting to eat solids or formula, although this a.m. she was downing the bottle.

Anyone else has as similar experience or has feedback on Beechnut foods???

Thanks!

Re: Beechnut Baby Food

  • It may just be a raspberry allergy. My son breaks out when he has raspberries. He can eat strawberries and blueberries with no problem, but raspberries make his eczema flare. I have fed beechnut foods to my son since he has been eating solids, with no other problems.

  •  Blueberries are hard to digest, but arent usually an allergen. The berries with the seeds should be avoided until after age one, from what I have read. I highly doubt its the food name brand-its more llikely the berry itself. Definitely avoid all seeded berries until later on. I still avoid them with Jacob since he is sensitive to them.

  • Another thing is that it could be a pestiside issue. Have you tried Earth's Best? No GMO or pestisides. It's the only baby food we use other than homemade organic.
