Our pediatric allergist said DD could get a flu shot no issues. I was told the same thing at the pediatricians office. We got her shot today and waited 30 minutes. She looked good so they sent us home. Later she had a spotchy face and raised bumps on the back of only 1 of her legs. Does this sound like an allergic reaction? Or did I just notice the bumps since I am overly concerned today? And the face was it from crying because she didnt want to take a bath??
What do you think?
Re: Egg Allergy Moms and Flu Shot
The raised bumps make me think it's a reaction.
Our pedi and allergist have it worked out to where we do a graded flu challenge at the allergist offices, just in case she were to have an immediate, severe reaction.

DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
was she ever exposed to eggs before? since she's 20 m old..
I've never seen what a flu shot does to a child with an egg allergy since we were not allowed to even try. But I can understand spots on the face from crying but not on the leg.. that seems like a reaction to me.
our egg number is super high (33). Last year we did a graded version of the shot (got 1/10th of it, wated 48 hours, did the rest of it in small doses over the course of 4 hours). J had a minor eczema flare but that was it. This year he'll get the full shot at once in the allergists office. From what the nurse told me (we just talked about this yesterday)- the amount of egg in the vaccines this year is super minimal due to all of the allergy concerns. We aren't anticipating any issues but we will give benedryl as a precaution and hang out at the office for a few hours after the shot just in case.
