If you don't have them in your area, google asian lady beetles, and you'll easily find pics of them. They're awful, and they stink and bite. We have a ton of them right now. Is there anything that is EF and kid-friendly that I can do to get rid of them besides vacuuming constantly?
Re: What can I do about these ladybugs?
My answer to bug questions is usually "leave them alone", but since they do bite and smell, I would use a broom and sweep them out. If you're careful it should prevent them from spraying stinky crud on your floor. Also, you probably don't really want beetles in your vacuum, so you can take a peice of pantyhose or something and stick it inside the vacuum tube and secure it with a strong rubberband and that will collect them without having them sucked into your vac.
Wow! Awesome to have an expert opinion!
Unfortunately, they're swarming the side of our house that we have to use for coming in and out, so mostly they're getting in when we're coming in and out. The whole side of the house is literally covered. Every time you have to open the door, you probably let 25 or so in, and that's if it's an adult that can super rush through and close the door fast. We also try to knock them off the doors before we open them, but it's a losing battle. (FWIW, it's not just at our house. It's everyone in the area.)
As much as I don't want to do it, we may have to break down and spray something. It's getting to the point that we can't leave the house. I've mentioned before that I intend to get some peafowl/guineas for our property, and now I'm definitely planning to invest in some keets asap. I cannot live like this. Ugh!
