Regular contractions suddenly stop?

I had contractions for a little over 15 hours that were 8-9 minutes apart and lasting for approximately 45 seconds. I called L&D around the 10 hour mark and they confirmed that having them for that long, I was in Early Labor, not False Labor, and that EL can last for up to 24 hours.

Now, I've noticed that my contractions have all but stopped. After 15ish hours of regular timeable contractions, they just tapered off and are coming maybe every 15 minutes now? Has anyone else experienced this?

    Starting Thursday at 9am until 11pm, I was having contractions very 4-7 minutes, went into L&D around 2pm, was making no progress (1cm and thick), so was sent home. Contractions continued through to Friday, but decreased to 8-10 minutes apart overnight (I got no sleep). At one point Friday late morning, they picked back up to 2-4 minutes apart, so I went back to L&D, again no progress (still 1cm, now 70% effaced), so was sent home Friday about 4pm. Contractions slowly tapered off about 9pm, so I actually laid down and slept through the night. Basically I was having regular contractions for 36 hours Thursday morning through Friday night and now have only had a couple today -- so they're basically gone.

    Oh my! I bet you're really sore! On Tuesday, I was 2.5cm dilated and 80% effaced, so hopefully I've made a little progress even if I do happen to taper off further. I hope you do too! And, I'm glad you finally got some sleep! :)

    Yah, my lower abdomen and groin area are really sore. But like you said, at least I was able to sleep. :o)  I'm glad that you're further along in your progress than I am -- hopefully your contractions have been more productive than mine were. GL!

    I had them for 14 hrs last friday 12 noon into saturday 2am. I took a nice warm shower and they finally died out, which was my last resort before going to L&D. I had been there wednesday though for my pre-e and was contracting every two mins with no change so they sent me on my way. I talked to my OB about it and she said it was normal to feel "beat up" after a false labor episode that lasted that long. I have been contracting on and off all day today and I am so tired of it.

    Yes.  With DD1 I started getting contractions on a late night Tuesday.  It all stopped by Wednesday late morning.  Then NOTHING.  Finally the contractions came back late Wednesday night (a full 24 hours after the original contractions) and I had DD by Thursday afternoon.

    I had contractions at 7min apart regularly from Wed afternoon until sometime Thurs in the very early morn. I had a NST sched. for Thurs and they were sure it was early labor but sent me home to rest until they were closer. Said to try drinking lots of water and take a warm bath just to be sure. If this didn't work it was EL for sure. It didn't work but they did go away, so obviously just BH. Have had low back pain and more of the painful BH contrax off and on since, but nothing that lasts more than an hour.
