DH and I have been looking for a toy chest for DS for Christmas. I have looked at reviews of some and they just keep me from buying one because edges are too sharp or screws sticking out or the material used will not last.
Can you girls direct me to some of your favorite toy chests? Or do I need to put my son in a plastic bubble with all these worries? LOL
Thank you all for your input.
Re: Please help! I am looking for a toy chest.
We have the Little Tikes toy chest and love it. No sharp edges or corners. The lid is lightweight and can easily be pulled off/reattached to the top. The plastic is super sturdy and my 3 year old often likes to get into the toy box to root around for toys, so it has withstood that! I also like the two little bins that slide under the toy box, as you can store matchbox cars and other smaller toys that would fall to the bottom of the box. Good luck with your search!

My parents bought DD this last Christmas:

It has a safety latch we love, DD can open it herself now...but it doesn't fit nearly as much as you would hope. I would buy it, if I had the chance, anyway.
I have something like this

and love it. It does not hold real big toys but it is fairly sturdy.
honestly- toy boxes/chests suck because toys end up on the bottom and never get played with - kids can't see their toys = they don't play with them.
it's best to have toys displayed or sorted into boxes on a shelf system. We have the Expedit system from Ikea and it's fantastic.
We have two of these (but in pink) and love them!
DD has no problem reaching her toys. Her tiny toys that can easily fall to the bottom are put in plastic bins (the shoe size ones) and placed in the chest.
