Babies with lots of hair...

K was born with a full head of dark brown hair.... And every time someone sees her it seems like that's the first comment! "OMG look at all that hair!" I hear it daily... Every time someone comes in my office and sees her picture or they see her in person. My in-laws were insistent that it would fall out, and every time they see her they are amazed that it's thicker and longer now. Pretty much everyone in my family was born with a full head of hair... I'm wondering if it's the Native American in us... Hmm...

Anyway, any of you other momma's of babies with tons of hair hear this comment a lot? It's odd for me because I'm not used to seeing bald babies... Well, I guess my cousin's little girl was bald... Actually, she's almost two and K has way more hair than she does...drives my cousin's soon to be wife crazy. =)

Re: Babies with lots of hair...

  • Every.damn.day.  That's all I hear.  No one says he is cute, or asks his name, or how old.  It's always "look @ all that hair!"

  • Love the new siggy pic!

And yes.  We get it ALL.THE.TIME.   Everyone just swore it would fall out, and nope.  Just the opposite has happened.  It's gotten longer and thicker (and lighter, lol).   I love it though.

A lot of people ask me if I had a lot of indigestion while pregnant.  I had none.

I am also a little bit Native American (Cherokee & Chaktaw) but not by much.  So, IDK.

  • Ha, nope, I always get "Aww, she doesn't have any hair!"  Or my poor dd gets called a "He."

  • J was born with a decent amount hair, not LOTS. But, her hair is a beautiful red/auburn color. So, that's what I always hear "Oh My Gosh, look at her red hair!"

  • lol I know... and DD's hair sticks straight up just as mine did when I was a baby. It is always "look at the hair!!!"
  • Yep, originally, but my DS has lost a lot of it. DD was born bald and didn't really get hair until about 14 months. No babies in my family or DH's have been born with hair until DS. The comment I always get though is "Look at those cheeks!" Since my ultrasounds at 37wks it's all I've heard.

  • LoL! Yes, I get so annoyed that the hair comment comes before the cute comment! I really thought K's hair would lighten up, but so far it hasn't. I have noticed that in the light she's got a tinge of red coming through, so she's getting my dark auburn hair I think.

It just cracks me up that everyone is always so amazed by the hair. I guess when it comes to my family I'm just used to babies with full heads of hair that don't lose it!

PS... Thanks! I love this picture of her. =D

  • I get that sometimes too and my LO has no where near as much hair as your LO.

  • All. The. Time!  Both DH and I were born with full heads of hair so I anticipated either a full head of hair, or bald as a cue-stick until 2 years old, lol!

Every one is still amazed that he hasn't lost any!  I am glad he's got a full head because it covers up his cradle cap!  However, it does make it hard to try to take care of the cradle cap!  I try putting some oil on his scalp about 15 minutes before bath time but it gets stuck in all the hair!

It's also amazing to me how much older he looks that his cousin that is 17 days older.  She finally has hair, and it's hilarious how it's grown in so evenly.  It's like she's got a little strawberry blonde buzz cut!

  • ALWAYS... and really she doesn't have THAT much hair. She just isn't bald. She however has lost some hair on the sides :(.

I also hate when people call her a he.. um hello she is wearing PINK. No she is a girl. Yes she has a good amount of hair, she is 3 months old, yes i know she is cute.

    Oh well. :D

This is exactly how I am! LoL! I just get tired of hearing the same thing over and over!

And every single day this same woman passes me and asks how baby is... There are only so many different phrases I can say!  I feel like I'm repeating myself! =P

I don't get the assumption that hair = girl too! I don't know how many times people have said "aww what a cute little girl, it is a girl, with all that hair, right?"  Uh yeah, but what's the hair got to do with it?! Shouldn't the carrier covered in pink flowers be an indicator? =P

  • I get it and C doesn't even have that much hair!  All the babies in mine and MH family are usually born bald so everyone has to comment on how she has hair.  It actually has gotten a little thinner though but no bald spots.

  • ALL THE TIME- drives me nuts-- then we hear- "she looks just like her daddy!"- yeah- I know- get over it.

Ironically, DH was bald until about 1 yr- LO was born with a ton of hair and it just sticks up straighter and straighter every day

  • Always! I startted questioning her cute factor since that's all people commented on! Lol. No I didn't have heartburn either! LOs hair didn't fall out but its hysterical looking because the half of her hair closest to the roots is super blonde, me and DH are both blonde, but the ends are still super dark. Its starting to curl but after her tubby when I brush her hair, she's definately rocking a mullet!! Hahaha.
  • I get this all the time (first thing they say) and then they rub their fingers through it much of the time they are talking to him)!!! So then it gets oily much faster than it already does (I suppose that's the only trait people can see that came from me so far). When they ask if I had a ton of heart burn, I say yes, which then just confirms their "old wives tale" which for some reason bothers me! I think its because I'm very science/research/experiment-oriented.

LoL! K's rocking the rat tail right now.... Oh Lord I hope the rest of her hair catches up to that one long strand in the back!!!

  • Ds has a lot of hair too, he's getting a little bald spot on the back from where his head lays but hasn't really lost any besides that. It is getting lighter though. We actually already trimmed his bands and around his ears once when he was about 7 weeks old. J wish we didn't do that but it's totally grown out now. Dd was born with a head full of dark hair too and never went bald. I disnt have heart burn with either one. And yes I get comments all the time about his hair and did I have hb. Actually while I was in extreme pain bc of not having time for an epidural and how fast he came he nurses were commenting on his hair as I was trying to push him out.

If it makes you guys feel any better, when I see your LO's and think, "OMG! Look all his/her hair!" I'm really thinking "He/She's SOOOO cute and all that hair just adds to the cuteness!" Plus I'm a little jealous that all of Emma's pretty hair has fallen out. All but 4 long strands on her forehead Sad

  • Yep, we get that comment all the time! And it doesn't help that I call attention to her hair by putting cute little hairclips in it. I think that if the Heavens gave me a baby girl with a full head of hair, I think it's my duty to put cute stuff in it! Big Smile

  • Yes! All the time! She was born with a lot of dark brown hair, but some has started to fall out. She still has most, especially in the very front and back. Our nurse actually said, "Oh my GOSH! I've never seen a baby with more hair!" Ha!

  • Awww all your thick-haired babies are ADORABLE!

DS was born with quite a bit of dark brown hair, but it all fell out within a few weeks (except for right above his neck...attractive hahaha)!  He is slowly growing it back, but I do think babies with lots of hair are super cute! :)

  • We get it all the time too! But I love it! I was born bald, and DH has his really short, so it was such a surprise when she came out all hair (first thing the doctors said too)! :-)

  • All the time!  What's the deal? They've never seen babies with hair?  They're people, too.  They have hair!  But, on the other hand, my friend just had a baby a few days ago, and holy moses, she really has a lot of hair! LOL!  Like, 10 times thicker than any baby on here!

  • all the time! It's not falling out like THEY ALL said it would either. It's actually touching and growing down her back now.

It's like "yes, good observation...she has hair" haha

I think a lot of people are just so used to babies with no hair or a lot less.

  • I hear it all the time! She was born with sooo much hair. I have really thick long hair so people are always like, "look at all that hair, just like her mom".
