My seven month old has to have a sedated MRI and I would like to know any thoughts that you have about the hospital. Also, what about the area surrounding? I have to get a hotel room since the test is very early in the morning and I live far from there.

Re: Anyone ever go to Miami Children's?
IMO, it is a very good hospital. I've seen several specialists there, and one of my boys had to have an u/s there.
The area is good... Coral Gables.

I just called and even though it is going to be around 200 a night they do have special rates for those of us going to Miami Children's. So I will probably just stay there. Thank you so much!
No problem! Glad I could help.

I can't complain about the way my daughter was treated at MCH, but I have to mention what happened later with the bill. She went in for a CT scan, they weren't sure if they'd need to sedate her. She has a lot of allergies so the doc decided to give her benedryl first and see if that worked to get her calm before trying anesthesia because the drugs for anesthesia had a lot of things that she may have been allergic to. She fell asleep in my arms after they gave her the benedryl. I walked her to the CT room, put her down, stood there the whole time, she slept through all of it. We left very happy with the way it all went and I didn't have to sedate her.
So imagine my surprise when I got a bill for $1500 that was listed as "sedation". I called and they said they'd look in to it. They called me back and they said that the charge was correct and that I'd need to request the records to prove otherwise. I requested the records and when I looked at them, there was no mention of a drug for sedation, only the benadryl was used "because she was wiggly". So I told them that and they came back with: well, because we gave her the benedryl we had to monitor her vitals, and that's what the $1500 was for. So for a dose of benedryl that would have cost me 50 cents at CVS, I got a $1500 bill and no way to fight it. Even my insurance company didn't care that they'd been billed for part of it.
